5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!
I couldn't disagree more with the previous reviewer. I purchased the Oster milkshake maker and use it almost everyday. Three of my sons love their shakes super thick...the Oster had no problem with the amount of ice cream. My other son watches his weight for wrestling, and I just put low-fat milk and a little cocoa and the Oster whips up an incredibly thick drink...

I just purchased this milkshake blender. After making two milk shakes, I'm returning it. I like very thick milkshakes, and this blender isn't quite up to that. The motor isn't that powerful, and the blending disks are pretty much smooth, unlike the "rippled" disks you see on milkshake blenders at diners. If you're not blending milkshakes, or you don't like them thick,...

Three of my sons love their shakes super thick...the Oster had no problem with the amount of ice cream. My other son watches his weight for wrestling, and I just put low-fat milk and a little cocoa and the Oster whips up an incredibly thick drink (usually making a glass and a half). If you put in some crushed ice with milk, it also whips up very thick and frothy. I am very pleased.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oster Milkshake maker, January 18, 2007

I purchased this Oster Milkshake maker for my son-in-law for Christmas. He had owned an inferior one with plastic parts & it broke. This maker is made of stainless steel parts, with a stainless receptacle and makes "restaurant style" milkshakes. He & my grandchild have had great fun creating and serving designer shakes to the whole family. It mixes smoothly in no time and is very easy to clean. I highly recommend this over any other on the market.

The Oster 6627 Chrome 100 Watt Drink Mixer is a powerful mixer as far as speed is conerned with its 2 speed level abilities. It is made of beautiful chrome and looks very sheek on my counter. The thing that I do not like about the mixer is that it does not mix the sides in the cup when its running. You have to be able to move the cup around to mix the contents in the cup, but with this unit you can not do that. The mixer has a safety mechnism that if you move the cup around it shuts off. If you want to mix the sides of the contents in the cup you need to take if off away from the mixer and stir it manually, because if you try to move the cup around while the mixer is running, it turns off. I think Oster should have a setting that lets you over-ride that if you wish because you don't get even mixing. It does a great job mixing where the blades are when the cup is in the exact place, but as far as mixing the sides, you have to manual stir, which defeats the purpose. If I had to do it again, I would honestly not get this mixer because of the above. I know Oster has safely in mind, but I don't like it when I want to move the cup or tilt to to mix and the mixer shuts off for saftey. If they want to keep that feature, they should have an option for ADULTS to over-ride that feature so they can get even mixing, without having to take the cup down and stir the sides to mix. If I wanted to stir manually, I would have stirred from the beginning. Not got a mixer dirty, then have to clean it even after I had to stir it anyway.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ergonomics be damned..., February 16, 2008

Bought this for my daughter who is a milkshake fiend. I like thick milkshakes and this seemed to be the best one I could find.
All in all I guess it's okay but there are a few issues I have with it.
1. The "safety" swith is idiotic. In order to keep the thing running you have to have the cup hooked under the safety tab so don't think about moving the cup up and down to mix the shake. I fixed it by duct taping the switch open but the "tab still causes the cup to hang up when your moving it up and down. A little more "re-engineering" is needed.
2. The blades are flat so there is no distortion to the ice cream/milk combo so the mix just spins around. Looks like I'll have to buy the optional blades to see if that'll help.

I prefer to use my high powered blender, but you can't convince a 14 year old girl whats right....

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a thick shake maker, December 16, 2005
If you like thin "foamed up" shakes this unit may be for you, but if you want thick commercial style look elsewhere. It has two adjitators but they are flat and useless. My single plastic agitator Hamilton beach works better. Very disapointing.

5.0 out of 5 stars PERFORMS AS EXPECTED, October 10, 2006
This review is from: Oster 6627 100-Watt Milkshake Drink Mixer, Chrome (Kitchen)
We had a similar item on one of our wedding registries and it was still outstanding afterward. I had also read several unfavorable reviews in regard to that item, many of which stemmed form it having plastic parts.

I had previously seen the Oster at Costco during one of my many visits so I purchased this for my husband who loves to make milk shakes and HE LOVES IT and has had no problem with it and its ability to make a shake to his liking. I also was able to get it at COSTCO for $19.99 which is significantly lower than the prices I've seen advertised.

For many years, I have used a blender to make milkshakes. This is not the easiest way, so I decided to buy a unit similar to ones found in ice cream shops. I picked this unit because of the chrome finish--easier to keep clean. I am VERY happy with this item. I keep it on my kitchen counter ready to use. SO easy--just add ice cream, milk, flavoring and mix. The turn top for speed control is easy to use. It blends the ingredients quickly and easily. The container is easy to handle--I just wish the container held a little more. What a great buy!

4.0 out of 5 stars A great machine, February 2, 2007
This review is from: Oster 6627 100-Watt Milkshake Drink Mixer, Chrome (Kitchen)
I purchased this last month and am well pleased. It makes great shakes and drink mixes. The only thing it doesn't do is chopped up any fruit you add. I previously had a Hamilton Beach one and this is much better, heavier and does a much better job mixing. I would recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great thick malts!, August 19, 2006

Great malt maker! I love thick malts and this mixer works great! The mixer aerates the icecream and mixes malt in well. The mixer stand is very heavy and sturdy and looks classy. For the price it is well worth it!
