I didn't know my old blender was so lame until I got this one. We make protein smoothies every day, and this blends all the ingredients and crushes the ice on 1/4 of the time of my old blender.

I used this to blend smoothies about 4-5 times per week. I bought it thinking the automatic smoothie feature was going to make it easier to blend -- it didn't. The smoothie "program" runs on low speed forward, then reverse, then faster forward, then reverse, then high speed for a while. It frequently created an airspace beneath the smoothie ingredients so it could blend at high speed like crazy without really mixing anything. That meant I always had to monitor it to see if I needed to stop it and push the ingredients down, so it didn't really make it any easier.

After six months, it stopped working. It wouldn't come on. It felt like it was the keypad that stopped working because the ON key didn't "click" right when I pushed it, like the other keys did. The keypad is a smooth membrane and food can't get into it, so that wasn't the problem.

I tossed it out. It was probably under warranty but I didn't have a desire to pay for shipping it to Oster for repair. I replaced it with this: Villaware Pro Infinity Blender V001-43100. Have only used it a few weeks but I like it MUCH better.

The "All Metal Drive" is half rubber and shears off after about 6 months of regular use. We bought this unit because it said it had an "All Metal Drive". It is even stamped right on the drive that it is All Metal Drive. But under the drive plate there is a rubber section that connects it to the motor. We use this daily to make smoothies with frozen and liquid ingredients. The unit we had before this would last about 3 years before we had to replace the very expensive drive connector. This one could only take it for 6 months.

It also has issues blending and develops an air space around the blades.

Do Not Buy this unit.

Great product. I have one for over a year at both my summer home and my winter home, mostly to make smoothies - frozen banana pieces with other frozen fruit plus milk, daily. One failed to come on after a few months of use, and I exchanged it for a new one. No other problems so far. Program is great, and with the right balance of fruit and milk, it mixes a great drink without even splattering onto the, but most of the time, the lid does get splatter. The lid is difficult to clean, so put it in a small, plastic bag, which, with a simple rinse, lasts for several days; the lid on my newer one has never been wet.

Air Pocket. Yes, as with any such device, air pockets can develop. A little experimentation with liquid to solid balance will enable it to either avoid air pockets or clear the air after a few seconds of the high speed portion of the cycle.

I tried this model because of the program and power before shelling out over five times the cost for a commercial model.

I can't imagine a better blender, and the only accessory I needed was the plastic bag for the lid.

I replaced a blender with this one and wow...what a difference. I use it mainly to make protein smoothies with lots of ice and it really mixes fantastically ... no ice chunks at all. Love it!

I wanted a blender to make protein smoothie shakes and it does the job. As a novice smoothie maker, I didn't realize how much trouble it is to blend frozen strawberries. I found defrosting the strawberries a little before putting into the blender helpful. Otherwise, my husband and I love it.

I always put off buying things like this - only because 'the one I have will get the job done'. Glad I waited and found this one. Impulse purchase - gift for the family - what a great one it is. This blender is actually smart - I swear it is. It knows what it is doing and lets you know (in not so many words) that it's time to add more liquid, or when it is finished - it hasn't let me down yet - I trust it to lead me the right way - and lo and behold - it produces another fabulous concoction. I mean the chips in Breyers Mint Choc Chip Ice Cream - big chips and plenty of them - disintegrated in mere seconds - down to a creamy milkshake with barely a remnant that there ever were chips in it.

There is a store in all of our neighborhoods - it is about $30 cheaper there. I know, I know....you'd rather just buy it here and now. Hey, $40 is $40 in todays' times - just thought i'd bring that point up - sorry amazon.

Don't hesitate - it won't be long to everyone finds out how great it is.

I purchased this blender over a year ago, and it has not disappointed me yet. I make smoothies with large ice cubes added, and it handles them very well. It's great for making fine crumbs, liquifying foods, mixing batters & chopping veggies for soups. I paid almost as much for a small, weak blender with all plastic parts. I especially like the large size glass jar.
There has been some talk about it being marketed as a 1000 watts, when it is actually 600 watts. I don't know what's up with that, but I can tell you that whatever the true wattage, it has more than enough power for me. I don't usually need to run it on more than the low speed.

This is a great blender and has excellent ice crushing capabilities which is very hard for me to find in a blender. I love the pre-set smoothie buttons. It even stops when it is done making a smoothie or drink. I highly recommend it!

I have had this only a couple of weeks and have made about 15 drinks so far. I have made 2 milkshakes (both came out perfectly) and the rest were fruit julius type drinks that have to crush ice into a smooth drink. This blender is the best I have ever used for crushing ice. It's amazing. I love that I just push one button and in about 15 seconds, I have a perfect drink!

I will update if I ever have problems with it!
