I got this as a gift, but I'm considering returning it after three days of use. The concept is excellent. The ease of use is excellent.

However, it's a virtually useless gadget. The motor is seriously underpowered and has a lot of trouble grating hard cheeses like parmesan. I tried using both drums, in case the finer drum was 'too fine', but it still took about 3 minutes to grate about 1/4 cup of cheese with the coarse drum.

For now, I'm sticking with my Microplane.

This cheese grater is only good if you want a very small amount of cheese at a time and I mean small! I wanted to use it to grate cheese for my salad. I thought this would speed up the process. Not so -- I actually do 100% better with my hand grater.

This is battery operated, and the does not have enough power to grate hard cheeses quickly. The capacity is small, and disassembling for cleaning is inconvenient. Save your money and get a hand grater.

This grater is definitely is not worth ordering or paying for it! It runs on batteries and is extremely slow. Would take all day to shred a block of cheese.

The makers of this cheese grater should be ashamed of themselves. I bought this for my Italian mother who was so excited to receive it- but in the end, gave it back to me so I can return it. The motor will stop once you put any amount of pressure on the grater-THIS DEVICE STOPS ONCE THE CHEESE IS ON THE GRATER . Do your self a favor and do not buy this- I learned the hard way so you would'nt have too. Hope this review helped:)

This is one of the most poorly designed implements that I have ever used in cooking. Instead of feeding the cheese in the shredding compartment from top to bottom (which is what I expected, and would have been easier on the user), the cheese has to be pushed into to cutting rotor sideways. Two very sore thumbs later, and after only a couple spoonfuls of grated cheese due to the tiny size of the receptacle, I am now ready to settle for a mechanical cheese grater.

Item is fantastic though a little smaller than I thought it would be.Much easier than doing it by hand..
Price was as good as grater is...

I would love to give it negative stars, but since I have to give it at least one, that is all it is getting from me. I got this item as a gift. I was so small. You had to cut the block of cheese so small to fit into the unit, you might as well shred it with a vegetable peeler. As soon as you push the cheese against the shredding barrel the motor stops. I contacted Oster and they immediately sent me another one. Same issues as the first one. Then as a gift from my parents I received an Oster microwave, piece of junk too. Upon writing Oster about the microwave I complained about the graters. I was informed that this model has been discontinued. I would move on to another grater.

My mother-in-law bought this product for herself, and being unable to work it herself, waited until Thanksgiving to get our help. To her surprise, we had just as much difficulty as she did. We immediately looked up Amazon reviews to see if she should exchange it for a new one, but we found everyone had the same experience.

"I'm just glad it wasn't me!" she now says, "Quality control! What are the people at the factory doing when they try out these products?!"

Everything in the other one-star reviews is spot-on.

"What should the title of the review be?" I asked her.

"Crappy appliance."

I am disappointed in this item - it is not that great at grating. It's has a very small reseptacle and takes a lot of effort to get the cheese to grate. You sort of need 3 hands.....

It's easier to use a manual grater.
