Product Description

Take a moment to enjoy even those busy weekday mornings with a plate of delicious homemade waffles with the help of this easy-to-use waffle maker by the Oster brand. The unit can cook up four square-shaped waffles in a matter of minutes, and it accommodates both store-bought mixes and batters made from scratch. Bake up anything from healthy whole-wheat waffles with slices of banana on top to more decadent waffles on the weekend-complete with butter and warm maple syrup or fresh summer berries and whipped cream. For those who can't help but hit the snooze button one too many times, there's also the option of making waffles ahead of time and freezing them for quick reheating later-a nice alternative to cold breakfast cereal any day of the week. The unit's cooking plates not only create the familiar waffle pockets that help trap a variety of favorite toppings, but they also provide a nonstick surface to help ensure effortless food release and quick cleanup. Other highlights include a locking handle that stays cool to the touch, automatic shut-off for safety, sleek black housing, and a flat base that allows for standing the unit upright when not in use-great for compact storage in a pantry or small cabinet. This Oster waffle maker has a one-year limited warranty.

My fault: did not look close enough!
This makes Belgian Waffles! It does it very well. They cook evenly: crispy outside/fluffy inside; no hot spots.
This is just not to my liking. I like the old school, standard, waffles. Will be gifting this one.

This is a reasonably priced waffle maker that bakes more or less consistently, and is easy to use and clean. There's nothing complex here -- no settings or anything like that, you just turn it on and wait for the green light.

I like the square shape and making 4 at a time means we can sit down together to eat, and I can also bake several for the freezer and they fit nicely in the toaster later. I also have had no problems will spilling over the sides -- it handles quite a lot of batter. These are all plusses. The only time it was kind of pain to clean was when I added blueberries, and some of them baked to the metal, and that took a little more effort to clean off, but otherwise, just wiping it down with a damp paper towel does the trick.

The only downsides are that sometimes the top of the waffles don't seem to brown as nicely as on the bottom (although the second batch will always seem to come out better than the first), and I noticed a little bit of the black surface coming off on the side of the iron where the cover hits (this after only about 2 uses), but since it is not a spot where food touches, I am not concerned. Also, you may have to check the waffles quite a few times to make sure if they are done or not, but I don't find that a huge drawback.

Overall the waffles have been very nice, and for the price, ease and convenience, as long as more of the black coating doesn't wear off, I am happy with it.

This is an excellent waffle maker, it just works everytime. I like the fact that this machine is a 4 - slice. Amazons price as always is $15 less than the rest. Cant go wrong with this. If your looking to make waffles with ease of use and easy cleanup get the oster 4 slice, you wont regret it.

REVIEW UPDATE - It has been a couple of months since my waffle maker arrived. At first it worked perectly. Now, after using it maybe 8 times, it's doing the same thing that everyone has complained about...it will not heat up. Our waffles are light, not crispy and not cooked. They won't release from the grids because it's still batter. I find this totally unacceptable and this is going in the junk pile. What an absolute waste of money.

This item was bought at the request of my grandson. He loves waffels and enjoys making them with me. Beside it being a great waffel maker the time spent with him is priceless.

After 28 years using my Hamilton Beach waffle maker the heating element finally failed and I was forced to replace it. I replaced the waffle maker with the Oster CKSTWF40 waffle maker. I am not new to making waffles and have had good success every time with my old waffle maker and batter recipe.
I pre-heated the Oster and made my first batch. This waffle maker took over 20 minutes to make one 4-slice waffle.
After 20 minutes the waffle was golden brown on the bottom side and barely cooked on the top side.
I wonder about Oster's quality control and how long they intend on staying in business.
Not only would I would not recommend this product, but I would discourage anyone I know from wasting their money.

I have only used this waffle maker twice so far. Except for the very first waffle that I cooked, the waffles have been coming out a nice, fairly even golden color. Following directions, I coated top and bottom with cooking spray prior to both uses, but the second time the waffles seemed to want to stick to one of the surfaces more. I noticed later that the instruction booklet calls it a Belgian waffle maker (I intended to get just a conventional waffle maker), but now I understand why the waffles are a little thicker than I expected. I'm extremely happy that it does produce a very large 4-section waffle in about 5 minutes time. (I can join it at breakfast, too, instead of waiting on countless small waffles.) The construction is rather flimsy, but at this price, I'm pretty sure I'll get my money's worth out of it.

This waffle maker does not get hot enough. The ready light comes on when infact it is not hot enough to make crispy waffles. It may be this particular unit but I doubt it. Something is not correct in the heating procedure and Oster ought to address it. Wish I could send it back but do not know how to since ordering it from Amazon.
