Making the popcorn is pretty easy!

This time, it popped, and two batches made enough popcorn for me and my two kids (one of whom is not even two).

Our four kids all like our old Stir Crazy popcorn maker, but this one tops it! The kids were excited as we opened it (it is packaged well) and couldn't wait to make the first batch.

The machine is easy to set up, easy to use, and relatively easy to clean. I would have no problem letting my 10 year old make a batch of popcorn. The only thing that gets really hot is the silver bowl inside (which can't be touched unless the door is opened). So it's great if your kids love to watch it pop - not too dangerous.

As another reviewer said, it doesn't fit under most countertops, so it isn't easy to store. The cord could be longer, but it didn't bother me too much. There are a lot of plastic parts on this machine (the windows are not glass), but I'm OK with that because it seems pretty sturdy. If it breaks within a year, I'll post here and let readers know.

All in all, we really like this machine and would recommend it (my kids would recommend it too!).

When I received this item, it looked neat, but it was also huge (much larger than I expected). I put it on my kitchen counter and realized that there was no way it would fit in my cabinet; it would have to be stored in the garage.

When I put it together (yes, I read the directions), I did not realize there was a plug that needed to be attached to the kettle (not the wall cord), and it was on for a good amount of time and still not popping, so I checked it out and realized it needed to be plugged in. So, I plugged it in and tried again. After that, it popped quickly, but I was astounded at how little popcorn the machine made for the size! It wasn't even enough for my two children, so I tried to pop another batch.

The machine started going again, and it was not popping after quite a few minutes, so I checked the cord. Sure enough, it had come loose during the previous popping. I pushed it in and let it run again. This time, it popped, and two batches made enough popcorn for me and my two kids (one of whom is not even two).

The drawer on the machine is worthless. If you try to pull it out to serve popcorn, it will go everywhere. Just open the door and serve yourself.

Honestly, I would never buy this. If I had a home theater, I'd buy a larger more expensive one. The best thing about the product is its entertainment value. My children loved watching it pop. They can get the same thing from a Stir Crazy which is less than half the size AND makes more popcorn!

The Oster Professional Popcorn Maker is my second popcorn maker in this size. The one I have before the Oster was a kind of Coca-Cola collectible and it has been served as a nice decor for my home theater. Now I finally have a popcorn maker that could serve its original purpose.

First of all, I am OK with the size. I know that the Oster Professional Popcorn Maker has a small pan compared with a commercial one you see in the theater, however, it perfectly fits for me. The outer case of the Oster is entirely plastic and only the moving parts and the pan are made of stainless steel. So do not expect the quality of a popcorn maker you see in commercial places. The Oster serves 8 cups of popcorns and that is just enough for me (8 cups are not that big, though). Cleanup process was easier than I expected. You just take out the pan and wash it. You need to clean up inside of the housing once in a while because it would get messier over time. I used popcorn packs from Great Nothern and the taste was just what I anticipated.

Overall, the Oster Professional Popcorn Maker is a great little machine for your home theater or kitchen. The assembly was easy and it has been working fine without any problem. Once you have it, you'll never miss microwavable popcorn. The Oster goes to kitchen since the predecessor is in the home theater already.

It's true, I love popcorn. LOVE it. I eat it almost every day, and it's very hard to find a bagged version at the grocery store that actually tastes fresh and buttery and good. I've tried various home poppers with low success rates - air poppers shot kernels all over the kitchen and the Stir Crazy was really REALLY hard to clean. The only microwave popcorn I really loved was Pop Secret Homestyle, but when I found out it had so many trans-fats I was very sad. Not that the stuff I eat by the bucket at the theater is any better for me, but ignorance is bliss!

I love the look of this countertop popper, it makes movie night extra festive! Yes, it is too tall for underneath most countertops, but I'm not sure why other reviewers are deducting stars for this when the measurements are pretty clear in the description. It is large, but not surprisingly so. I keep it tucked away in a corner when I'm not using it, and then move it to the middle of the kitchen counter (near a plug, the cord is pretty short) when I want to use it. Which is just about every day!

Making the popcorn is pretty easy! Just plug in/turn on for a few minutes to let it heat up, and then use the included measuring cups to add the right amount of oil and popcorn kernels. If you're a huge popcorn lover like me, RESIST the urge to overfill the popcorn cup! When the whole cup is popped, the popped kernels just *barely* fit in the removable drawer, so if you overload it you will lose a few kernels to the floor (luckily, my dogs love popcorn too)! I've been using just basic popcorn oil and store-brand kernels, and almost every one pops nicely in this machine so I get a very full bowl every time. Which is good because I can eat a lot of popcorn. Did I mention I love popcorn?
