The microwave worked "OKAY" for 6 months then completely died.

I guess I learned my lesson the hard way, will not buy another Oster microwave unless they can make these better.
Jim
If I was not out of the country I would return this one immediately.

Currently this Amazon page is lacking in some details about this unit, most notably that it is a 1200 WATT unit, not 1100 WATTs like most 1.4 cu.ft. units. So that's pretty sweet, right?

Other specs from other sources:

The Oster digital microwave oven has 1200 watts of total cooking power and 10 variable power levels for customized cooking. The digital microwave oven even comes with a programmable child lock that prevents unsupervised use.
* 10 variable power levels for customized cooking
* 9 convenient cooking functions for easy, one touch cooking
* Programmable child lock prevents unsupervised operation
* 1200 watts
* Model OGG61403

Note that this model does not have a "sensor" feature like some more expensive models have. Nevertheless, this is actually a slight better-than-normal feature-set for this price range/class (sub-$100) of microwave. What impresses me is the extra wattage, and that I like the idea of having a handle. Many times people complain that they get units with those big buttons that you have to press to open the door, but don't work well. Our GE could be like that sometimes - the button would stick.

It does bug me a little that there isn't more information about this unit on the web, but maybe that is because it is new-ish? Time will tell. Oster has usually been good for us - reliable and straight-forward appliances at a reasonable price.

I did not want another microwave with a push button to open it. So I found this one with a handle. It works just fine and the window on the front allows us to see in better than any microwave that we had before. We are happy with it and it looks nicer than are other GE microwave ever did. They all cook about the same in my opinion.

Update: March 2013 This microwave is starting to malfunction. When you press the on button everything works except no heat unless you jiggle it a little on the side. We have only moved it once since we got it so it should not be doing this so soon. We do not abuse our microwaves in any way and use it only a few times per day. I expect it to die completely any day now after only a couple of years. All our old microwaves lasted for 8 to 10 years and usually we gave them away just because we wanted a new one with more features.

After looking for several weeks for a microwave that would fit in a small space under a counter, I found a GE microwave that had pretty okay reviews. It arrived, and we realized immediately that the strength was so poor that it took 5 minute to partially pop a bag of popcorn. I sent it back to Amazon the next day.

So I saw this one, and it was essentially the same size outside, but while the other one was .7, this one 1.2 inside. And the power level was much stronger. We tried it out the first night, and it worked very well and very quickly. The keyboard is easy to use, and there are many other function buttons that work well too. Made perfect baked potatos, reheated lasagna in 2 minutes.

We are very happy with this purchase. I would highly recommend it.

The microwave worked "OKAY" for 6 months then completely died. Oster's warranty is to send a cheque for the purchase price only until you've sent in the "cut-off cord" in the mail..to canada. Enjoy spending $20 on shipping just to get your lousy $100 cheque in the mail.

Our microwave died a sudden and painful (more so for us than for it) death, so I came to Amazon to look up reviews and purchase a new one. The first thing I found was that no one makes microwaves the way they used to apparently. Our first one lasted a decade, the one we replaced was about six years old, but most reviews I found talked about the newer units only lasting up to 3 or 4 years. I found a couple I liked that had decent reviews but none were available at any of my local stores so it was back to the drawing board, and that's when I found this one. I ordered it from Walmart's website (20 dollars cheaper with free shipping to the store) and I was pleasantly surprised. It is more powerful than our old one so there was a learning curve, but now I don't how we lived without it. It cooks evenly and quickly and the design is great. The only complaint (and it's not even really that, more just a minor annoyance) is that if you don't remove your food within a few minutes it continues to beep. Not a constant beep, just every 3 minutes or so until you either open the door or press the 'Stop' button. Overall, well worth the money!

I had been looking for a microwave, came across this one (excellent price on Amazon, also had good reviews) with free s & h. Ordered it a week or so before Christmas, I did not think it would arrive in time but it did (very pleased with the fast shipping).
Microwave buttons are self explanatory, easy to operate. I essentially only use it to warm/heat food (it's GREAT for those steam/cook in the bag vegetables and microwave popcorn).
Have had it a little over a month and absolutely love it.

This is exactly what I was looking for in a microwave. It is large and has enough power to quickly cook or warm up food. Our only problem was learning the keypad system. It took several trys before we realised we had to open the door if we wanted to reset what we had just entered. There may be another way but this works.
