3.0 out of 5 stars Great item, but not completely necessary...
This item works very well. It leaves less froth/foamy surface when you make the drink.

I have been using this to make my protein shakes, which include whey protein powder, milk, and ice cream. Every now and then I will add some fruit or syrup (caramel or chocolate). It blends everything together very well.

I would only say that it is not SUPERB...

I can see no difference between the base of this blade and the original ice crushing blade that came with my blender. Fits perfectly and works very well. The difference comes in the fact that making milkshakes with this blade vs. the ice crushing blade is a huge improvement. The original blade just froths the bottom liquid while the milkshake blade really gets the mixture blended up nice and evenly. If you are a big fan of milkshakes and malts, i would highly recommend getting this blade over your original blade -- there is a big difference.

Oster has made great products for Years, This special Blade makes Smooth and Creammy Milk Shakes, Just like I used to drink as a Kid.

I use this blade on a 1950's Oster model 448 Bee Hive Blender.

This item works very well. It leaves less froth/foamy surface when you make the drink.

I have been using this to make my protein shakes, which include whey protein powder, milk, and ice cream. Every now and then I will add some fruit or syrup (caramel or chocolate). It blends everything together very well.

I would only say that it is not SUPERB or AMAZING as to the job it can do when making the shakes. It still leaves a little frothy/foam on the top...but not as much as a regular blade.

PROS: Cheap, gets the job done, looks fancy
CONS: Not extremely necessary to make milk shakes. The regular blade will make milk shakes just fine without it.

SUMMARY: Only purchase if you have the spare cash to spend on it. I would not label this item as a pure necessity for milk shakes. But it does do a nice job.

This review is from: Oster Milkshake Blade (Kitchen)
I find the Oster milkshake blade a good addition to the use of a multi-use blender. If im not mashing(Purée), crushing, chopping or mixing sauces, The milkshake blade does its purpose on the mixing side of shakes and smoothies.
After comparing the mixing cycle of Oster ice crusher blade with the Oster milkshake blade when preparing shakes and smoothies using the same jar(after crushing ice with the ice crusher), I found that there is more aeration, and a much more even liquefying of the ingredients at a shorter time than the ice crusher. While the Oster ice crusher can still make the shakes and smoothies, I'll say to be honest that it may not be a quality mix to the Oster milkshake blade. If you know how to create good shakes and smoothies and often make them for more than one person, this is a nice and near necessary piece to have. Overall, I am happy with this purchase. I use a Oster 4094 Classic 500 watt.

Other notes:
*Does it's job very well.
*Easy to install and switch between blades.
*Fits Housing very well.
*Unit is made by Oster and boxed by Oster.
*Unit is well made.
*The blade does not leak with my blender, jar, O-ring and jar base.
*Product information descriptions are accurate.
*Does not come with O-Ring but not in any of a problem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does A Great Job - Very Versatile, April 29, 2008
This little gadget Oster Milkshake Blade Blender Accessory 6670 is worth every penny to acquire and this is the best price I have found on and off line, but don't let it sit around for only milkshakes and smoothies. It does a great job on whipped cream and other heavy items that need more than the regular Oster Blade.

Try this recipe out for a great dessert:

1 - 4 serving size Orange Jello mixed with 2/3 cup of hot water and cooled for 5 minutes.
1 - 8 oz package Philly Cream Cheese, cut up into chunks
1 cup cottage cheese
2 cups Cool Whip, thawed
1 graham cracker or 10 Nilla Wafers crushed fine

Pour cooled jello and cottage cheese into blender and run on liquefy until smooth. Add cream cheese chunks and blend again. Add Whip Cream and blend on a medium speed or pour into a large bowl and beat with a whisk until very smooth. Pour 1 cup of mixture into bowls, dessert cups, etc. (I use 9 oz disposable solo cups)and garnish with crushed graham cracker or nilla wafers. Chill for four hours and serve with a dollop of Cool Whip on top.

*Hint: to smooth mixture in cups tap cups lightly on counter top before garnishing and chilling.

5.0 out of 5 stars Talk about a GREAT Milkshake!, February 10, 2010

This review is from: Oster Milkshake Blade (Kitchen)
This blade makes all the difference when making a milkshake. The original blade that comes with Oster Blenders is OK for milkshakes but tends to need a lot of stopping and manually pushing down the ice cream or it will just sit and spin without actually mixing. It's OK if you make thin shakes but if you want thick and creamy this blade is it. This milkshake blade quickly draws down the ice cream and makes a very smooth, creamy product that mixes well with very little help. If you're like me and love thick, creamy shakes and use an Oster Blender, this is the blade for you. The only drawback I found was the price for shipping. As far as performance, I would find it very hard to beat.

I make smoothies with frozen fruit, fresh fruit, juice, and whey protein powder - this blade makes my smoothies so creamy; it has no problem blending the frozen fruit at all. The original Oster blade works fine but doesn't blend like the Milkshake blade - it really makes a difference!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great blade - so is Goodmans, March 10, 2011
This review is from: Oster Milkshake Blade (Kitchen)
If you've ever seen the tips of the blades on a real milkshake machine, take a close look, they have 2 small circular fluted blades. The lower blade on this looks exactly like it, only larger. That really convinced me that this would be a cheap alternative to buying a real dedicated milkshake machine. It does really work well.

Yes, I made really good milkshakes with the standard blade, but this just makes them even better, more like a real milkshake machine.

As for those that gave this a bad score, I would ask: Aren't most milkshakes made with ice cream and milk?

Yes, you could make a fruit shake, but this is sold specifically as a "milkshake blade", so it's not designed to cut fruit, or ice.

It's designed to mix milk and ice-cream. If you want to make a fruit shake with frozen fruit, then the ice blade that comes with most blenders would work best.

Saw this on Amazon, and normally order everything from Amazon. However, we accidentally destroyed the clear center top of our blender, and Goodmans had the best price on that. Ordering direct from Goodmans got slightly better shipping rates, and then I noticed is was only $1 more shipping to get the milkshake blade. I even added one more rubber ring for only 79 cents, and there was NO extra shipping for that. Their shipping was fast, and they have a 45 liberal return policy.

In case anyone cares, I use this on a Red Oster Classic 2 speed blender, 600 Watts, using the "pulse mode" (it only has pulse and ON as it's 2 modes).
