I have been using Oster electric dog clippers for years.
My first one lasted a few good years of casual use before it started performing so poorly it had to be thrown away. My second one lasted a couple of years of semi-regular use. And this most recent one lasted two projects (I use them for synthetic fur, but its very comparable to real animal fur) before it started failing.

I noticed this past time I bought new Oster clippers, it didn't look exactly the same as the older ones I had purchased, so I think these are basically Oster's new version of the ones I had used in the past.
The design is really poor. The problem seems to be that the screws that hold the blade in place are REALLY short, so even when screwed in as tight as they can go, they are still never really tight, and the blade moves around from the vibration of the razor. When the blades aren't aligned correctly, it doesn't cut at all. I had to keep turning off the clipper and readjusting the blades- this didn't even always work. I think the blades being out of alignment had permanently damaged the cutting edge, because even when the placement looked correct, it didn't cut at all. This was an issue on the older Osters I owned before this too, but it didn't happen until a couple years of use, and by then I was okay with the idea of replacing them. So for this to happen after not even two projects is absolutely unacceptable.

The other issue with these clippers is that even when they are working optimally, it's still not terribly well, cutting grooves into the fur, and jamming on thick fur. I honestly didn't even realize the grooves weren't supposed to occur until I bought a higher quality trimmer, and I was amazed at what I had put up with all this time.

These are the 2nd set of pet clippers I've purchased and I'm coming to the realization that it's either the pet groomer or $100-plus for an adequate tool. These clippers are only one step over the $10 home clippers and maybe not even that. They cannot go into the underlying double coat with any cutting ability at all. Only barely adequate for trimming around the ears and face - or if you own a fine-haired thin-coated breed. Save up the quarters and get a real "professional" clipper.

Would not recommend these clippers. Bought them so I could have an extra pair around when my other ones got to hot. They did not cut my dogs hair at all. It just pulled at my dogs hair. The bladders were dull. Horrible choice.

I used this once shaving my dog and it worked ok. I used it the other day and it sounds like it isn't even running and then when I went to shave my dog it didn't even shave her!!!!!!!!

Very Disappointing!

I bought these so I could clip my outdoor cat in the summer, because she has long fur and it's hot in Georgia. I used to take her in to the groomer's, but that costs $60 and she's so calm that I knew I could do it myself. I looked at Petco and these are marketed as general purpose clippers for both dogs and cats.

First I tried clipping her fur with the longest guard. That was a miserable failure. It would get jammed in the first 1/4" of clipping. I thought maybe it was because her fur has a bunch of knots & stuff (she isn't great at grooming herself, another reason for her yearly haircut). So I used scissors to cut all her fur down to about 1/2" long, carefully removing any knots. Tried the shorter guards and even no guard at all on the shorter fur. Still nothing. I mean, if I grab a long chunk of fur and kind of saw at it with these clippers, it DOES eventually cut through. But there is NO WAY to run it down (or up) her body and cut the fur evenly. It simply jams up as soon as there is any fur in there at all, and barely cuts.

I cannot bring myself to believe that the people at Oster ever even tried these out on a cat before offering this product for sale. They are beyond useless.

I have an older Oster dog clipper set that cuts way better than this one. Dull and useless. My poor dog!
