Oster Stainless Steel Pressure Cookers,

Well made. I did not research this enough. I thought all pressure cookers were 15 psi. Note that this one is only 11.6 psi. It is not discussed in the description, but can be found else where. Other high quality mainly European pressure cookers are also 11.6 psi (80 Kpa). It will be ~10 degrees F cooler and will require most published recipes to be altered.

Its A Pressure Cooker In Here!,

I love this. I read others reviews, saying they dont understand how to make the regulator "jiggle". I got a screaming good deal on this, so I decided to risk it.
The regulator is not in the center which seems odd, but I found that once the red lock is in the "locked" position, I turn the heat down a notch and start timing. Then, I dont adjust the heat unless the sound changes. The regulator never really "jiggles" it just kind of "hisses". When done timing, I off the heat and use a spatula to release the pressure or let it return to normal naturally. Then I remove the lid and enjoy the most tender meats I have ever tasted. Some rules about pressure cooking: 1. Don't overfill; 2. Make sure there is enough liquid; 3. Don't use OIL as a liquid. Beer, Wine, Water, Fruit Juice etc. is fine tho. Suggestion: Try a few pressure cooker recipes (from the internet) until you get comfortable, then be creative and make your own recipes. I can make a beef roast from freezer to table in 1 hour. It would take me 1 & 1/2 days of slow roasting to get this same quality. Saves energy, saves time, tastes great. Marte

Cannot recommend this Oster pressure cooker,

I cannot recommend this cooker. First it's not obvious this has a detachable weighted pressure regulator. It's square and inserts into the lid, making it appear to be a built-in. I purchased this in late April, and used it about once a week since. It performed fine. But within 2 months a small plastic tab in the lid that locks the lid on broke. I emailed Gibson USA (who makes this Oster product) about the broken tab. They insisted on sending a gasket first. I told them OK, I'll go along, though I was sure that wasn't the problem. Unfortunately the gasket they sent was larger than for my model cooker so I can't even use it as a spare. When I emailed the person at Gibson saying the gasket didn't fix the problem, I got no response. I sent a new email with the particulars to their customer care department, but got no response from that either. I had to call and leave a voicemail for a manager in order to get a response. The manager's response via email said I needed to send the defective part in. That was o.k. even though I had to pay to ship it, but I wish we hadn't wasted more than a month to come to that determination. It took about 1.5 weeks for the replacement lid to come. I noticed something I hadn't with the original lid - the handles were screwed in tightly and didn't jiggle. And, on the packing slip it was very clearly labeled as a "one time replacement" though anyone looking at this small plastic tab would realize it's pretty weak. I can only hope it will last since it appears I don't have a second chance. I cannot recommend this because of the quality of the components, their lackluster customer service, and the "one time replacement" policy.

A bit frustrated,
By
This review is from: Oster Stainless Steel Pressure Cookers (Kitchen)
I went to Ross in hopes to buy my first pressure cooker. I found Oster. It doesn't whistle and I noticed mine did not come with a rubber sealer. Is it supposed to whistle at all, and is it supposed to come with a rubber sealer?
Also, I noticed that i'm not supposed to loose liquid. My first cook was almost dehydrated. The second attempt to cook a meal has left me frustrated. HELP! I have have called the company but they are closed. I'm hoping to find info sooner than later. Thanks.

I wanted this for years, and couldn't afford it before. ( My first pressure cooker was $60 for a 4 qt). Here it was the same price as the 4 qt. and so it was a no brainer to finally get it and it is and Oster, wow, I'm impressed and pleased. If you like quick, fat free ( as in its own juices) dinners this is the way to go.

I was looking for a stainless steel pressure cooker because it's healthier than the aluminium one. I can tell you I also was attracted to this brand because of the unbeateable price Amazon had on that day ($27 dlls). Eventhough is not a 15 psi cooker, it's only 11.6 psi, it cooks fast and it's very safe to use. I think also the gasket and other replacement parts you may need would be easy to get. And very pleased with the quality and heaviness of the stainlees steel of this cooker and it's mirror finish.

It performs as described and is good for someone cooking small amounts of food. The 6-quart is the only limitation I would mention, but it should be no surprise. It doesn't indicate when the food is cooked (with a whistle), but the manual tells suggested times of cooking for various foods.

I bought this POS 2 months ago and used it once a week max., and first the lid became difficult to attach and close, then the pot split about 2 inches down the side next to the handle. Thank goodness it didn't explode under pressure. Be safe, buy a different cooker!

This is my first pressure cooker I've ever used. It's pretty simple and once I figured out how to keep the pressure up with my stove, it worked perfectly. I really like it. If you have a big family, I reccommend a bigger pot as some recipes you can only fill halfway. (beans) I had to go buy a recipe book as this one didn't come with anything except the owners manual.
