Broke within 18 months.

This is a real safety hazard--I don't know if it's just one malfunctioning oven or if they all do this but I won't be buying another to find out.
Beverrlly
I called and they were going to send me another replacement.

Not only is this oven totally uninsulated, and thus terribly hot, but the time/temperature knob stopped working after one month. Not wanting to keep the oven, I disassembled the front panel to see what was wrong (a destructive process due to poor design) and found that not only did the knob not work, in fact it never would have worked. It wasn't even completely assembled and wouldn't do anything but spin in place. So this oven was an unfinished piece of junk from the start.

Looks like we're not the only ones burned by this unit. I suppose it served us more or less well for maybe six months, but then the start/stop button started getting really touchy. Often, it wouldn't work at all. Sometimes seems to be heat-related (if the unit is already hot, button is less likely to be responsive). My wife wants to get rid of it, but we haven't had it that long and it works at least some of the time. But really -- is that the right way to evaluate? Come to think of it, today is a donation day...

A pretty lookin' unit, I couldn't resist the $20 off... sucker! After 3 minutes at pizza setting, the front door and top were hot enough to burn a kid, and we have two... so this ain't gonna work. Back to Target you go....

Immediately after plugging the unit in I went to take the tape off the door and got shocked. It was mild but very surprising. I went to touch other parts of the unit and everything that is stainless (ie, the entire oven) is slightly electrified every time the unit is 'on.' I tried using it once but after one nasty shock, it's going back. This is a real safety hazard--I don't know if it's just one malfunctioning oven or if they all do this but I won't be buying another to find out. Buyer beware...

Just as an aside, I did not buy this toaster oven through Amazon, but another venue. (Target) We've had the toaster oven for less than a year, and tonight, it just up and quit on us. Poof! Awesome timing with guests over this weekend.

Up until this point in time, it was good at what it did. Now, it's just a pile of scrap. Boo.

I agree with other posters - this is a piece of junk. The only good thing I can say is that Oster does stand behind their product. I purchased mine from Target and it broke (bottom heating element failed) within 4 months (too late to return to Target). I figured I was sol. I called Oster (Jarden consumer relations) and they sent me a replacement one. It did take two phone calls - first rep dropped the ball. The second one was extremely hot - smoked - and lasted two months. I was cooking fish and it just stopped -- would not turn on again. I checked my outlets and they were fine. I called and they were going to send me another replacement. I asked customer service rep to check with manager to see if I could get a different model and she said they are sending me one ending in 6058. Fingers crossed this model is good! To those of you that purchased this, make sure you call --- with the ease that they keep replacing mine they must know it is a piece of junk!
