3.0 out of 5 stars Uneven Cooking
This oven does a decent job on pizza except it doesn't cook evenly. You have to spin it 180 degrees to get it cooked evenly. It is noisy and hot. Invariably I burn myself everytime I use it. Overall, a little disappointing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love my new convection toaster oven, March 25, 2011

This review is from: Oster TSSTTVMATT 6-Slice Convection Toaster Oven, Brushed Stainless Steel/Black (Kitchen)
I love this oven. I researched convection toaster ovens until I was bleary eyed. This model Oster was the one I wanted, no other model. Other Oster models didn't get the excellent reviews this one had. I almost ordered a Waring. But for the price, and my getting this specific model through Amazon with the great reviews on Amazon and from other websites, I know I got more than my moneys worth. And, it fits on top my microwave exactly where I wanted to place it. I live in Costa Rica and had a friend bring it down. It is great to no longer use my large oven that heats up my tropical house that already gets plenty warm without oven use. This oven doesn't heat up the house. It makes great toast, the dinger is loud enough for my hard of hearing ears, the crumb tray that is removable is brilliant, I love the knobs instead of digital touch pad, I'm old-fashioned that way. I haven't officially checked the calibration of the heat, but suspect it may be about 10 degrees cooler than the actual knob setting. Also the inside measurement doesn't allow for the use of a large rectangular type baking dish, so I'm having to search for ones no larger than 11 x 1l. I still would not go back to using my big hot oven just to make a large lasagna. Oster seems to have built a sturdy little appliance in this. I've even baked a bundt pan banana cake to perfection.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!, May 9, 2012
This review is from: Oster TSSTTVMATT 6-Slice Convection Toaster Oven, Brushed Stainless Steel/Black (Kitchen)
Hats off to Oster on this one.....we love this oven! I was sent on a mission when my very old Wel-Bilt oven went on the fritz. It had lasted so long that I would have bought another, but I found out they are no longer made. I spent countless hours and days researching a replacement, only to find out that the maunfacturers apparently haven't been able to perfect their designs. It seems they all have their pros and cons. Eventually my search narrowed down to either this oven or the Hamilton Beach Countertop Oven with Convection & Rotisserie Model # 31103. Obviously I chose the Oster, and I have NO REGRETS. It is perfect for my use.

I found that I am no longer using my regular kitchen oven (excluding the stovetop), and relying solely on my toaster oven. I was looking for something bigger than what I had, but not too large. I would consider this a medium sized oven. My old oven would fit a cornish hen but not a 5 lb chicken, and this Oster oven is able to handle a 5 lb bird.

The INTERIOR dimensions are approximately:

11 1/2" wide
11 3/4" deep
8" height total; lower rack position allows 5 1/2" height, upper rack position allows 4 1/2" height

The EXTERIOR dimensions are approximately:

17" wide
10 3/8" high including the peg legs it stands on.
14" deep including the wall protectors in the back and the front handle. The oven itself from the back to the front door is approx. 11" - 11 1/4", the protectors in the back that keep the oven away from the wall are 1 3/8", and the front handle is slightly curved sticking out 1 1/2" - 2".

The Oster oven specs are: 120Vac, 60Hz, 1300W

The Broil function uses the top heating element, and the door is able to remain open a couple inches when using the broiler. The Warm function uses the bottom heating element and is recommended to be used at 200 degrees. The Toast, Pizza, and Convection Bake functions all use both the top and bottom heating elements. I had never used a Convection Oven before and was concerned that this oven didn't have just a plain Bake function, but that is esentially what the Pizza function is. However, I have found that I like the Convection Bake and utilize that the most. The built in fan that circulates hot air is quiet in operation. I never had a plain toaster as I always used a toaster over, so from what I can tell the toaster works as it should. The dial to turn it on shows a picture of light toast and dark toast and it appears to be accurate. If you go somewhere in the middle of these two icons the toast comes out a nice brown. The manual recommends that for best toasting results to use the rack in the upper position.

The rack slides in and out of the two rack guide positions with ease. I purchased on Amazon a granite ware cookie sheet which happens to fit perfectly in the rack slots if the rack is removed. Otherwise, it fits on top of the rack in the lengthwise direction. The pan that comes with the oven is square and is fine to use, but since I use my toaster oven so heavily I have other cookware I use regularly. The oven will fit up to a 11" square pan and I use 9" pans with handles. I have used the oven to cook many items including chicken, steak, cornish hens, veal, pork, lamb, fish, pizza, toast, and cookies all with positive results.

The oven produces some heat as do all ovens. When the oven is in use you can feel the heat a few inches all the way around with the most coming from the front glass. The manual recommends that you pull the unit out a minimum of 6 inches away from the wall. I'm not sure if it really needs that much space, but I guess it's better to be safe than sorry. The handle and the knobs all have rubber grips so they do not get hot. The bottom knob has a timer which I personally do not use because I like the "stay on" feature. However, the bell signal is a good tone and not annoying. I have found that if you do turn the timer knob on, it is a little hard to turn off.

The oven door only has one hinge on the bottom left side therefore, the top right side (side with knobs) has a slight gap in the top right corner where a little heat escapes. The door would have been more snug if Oster used two door hinges.

In regards to the bottom crumb tray; I was originally looking for one that is removed from the outside, but I have now found this to be a non-issue. The interior tray is easy to remove and cleans quickly. Also, the interior walls of the oven clean with ease.

Overall I am very happy with this oven. The size is perfect for the space I have, and it is large enough inside to cook anything I might want. I have had it since March 15, 2012 and it gets heavy use daily. On many days I have used it continually for 6 hours or more at a clip. The temperature is fairly close, and if I need to maintain a certain temperature, I use an oven thermometer with it. The oven also has a light indicator which tells when the oven is on or off, and I find this to be a helpful feature. This product comes with a 1-Year Limited Warranty from the manufacturer. I highly recommend this oven.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Convection Feature, March 4, 2012
This review is from: Oster TSSTTVMATT 6-Slice Convection Toaster Oven, Brushed Stainless Steel/Black (Kitchen)
At 1300 watts and approximately .6 cubic feet, we would class this as a medium-sized toaster oven. The interior is about 11 3/4 inches wide by 11 1/2 inches deep by 8-inches high, which fits up to a 9 1/2-inch square pan comfortably. There is a stay-cool handle, a nifty slide-out crumb tray, and the rack glides smoothly on the well-positioned indented tracks. Its toasting speed rivals that of a standard pop-up toaster, browning a large sandwich roll in merely three minutes. "Toast" in addition to "Pizza" and "Convection Bake" employ both top and bottom heating elements. The heat does not fluctuate much in toast mode. If this is too fast for you, you may try reducing the temperature out of the marked "Toast" range, or use the pizza feature. Be sure to preheat first, according to the user's manual. Our all-time favorite multi-function toaster, the original dinky diney Toast-R-Oven (until we had to do so much baking), was about this quick, but had a special automatic short-duration timer for light to dark toasting; Oster relies on a 60-minute timer for everything. About the best thing about it, besides quality construction, is "Convection Bake." It cooks beautifully for an oven this size. In fact, we found convection works best for most foods, making half the modes seem extraneous. While the "Warm" setting is most like standard baking mode, using only the bottom element, it goes haywire for some odd reason if you try to use it over 275 degrees F., beyond the recommended temperature range.

5.0 out of 5 stars Practice Makes Perfect!, May 31, 2010
I purchased this product at Wholesale Liquidators for $50.00. I used this just hours after purchasing. My daughter & I have been practicing cooking different foods with this for 2 days. We're trying to use all the features utilizing the different heating settings. We're having fun. Unlike some other models the fan is not loud. I'm looking forward to using this oven throughout the summer months.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does some things well but doesn't last, January 2, 2011

We had one of these for a little over a year before it broke. It does get hot on the outside but so do others in its class. It did a credible job as a small oven but took some real finesse to get decent toast. We were pretty satisfied until the top element died.

1.0 out of 5 stars disappointed, December 3, 2010
This review is from: Oster TSSTTVMATT 6-Slice Convection Toaster Oven, Brushed Stainless Steel/Black (Kitchen)
Does not heat evenly or anywhere near temperature set. Cannot toast bread adequately at any setting. Had it 3 months and giving up. Ready to give it away and purchase another. Have had cuisinart toaster convection in the past and loved them. Will probably go back to that brand.

Was rated as "best buy" in Consumer Reports. I agree.
Only thing keeping it from a 5 star rating is the timer control is hard to turn backwards after setting the timer in motion.
