5.0 out of 5 stars I dissagree with other reviews. I love this chair!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Comfortable
This chair is not very comfortable even when you use it as a lounge chair. Forget about laying on your stomach. There is a bar that cuts right into your stomach.

I don't normally write reviews, however, after reading the other reviews for this chair, I couldn't disagree more and felt I should voice my opinion. I love my Ostrich chair. I am 5'6" tall and have enjoyed many hours of comfort in this chair. Some of the claims in the above review are just not true. Laying face down is the most comfortable position and reading was quite easy..assuming it's not a windy day, but how can you blame wind on the chair (absurd). I hope my review helps others, as I truely believe the rating on this chair is unfair. After all, what other chair allows this kind of versitility. Not any I've ever seen or purchased. Again, I love this chair and look fwrd to many more days of use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Old Discontinued Model.., April 3, 2008
This review is from: Ostrich 3 N 1 Beach Chair - Blue White Stripe (Misc.)
Please be aware that this dealer is selling an old 3-4 year old model. The current 2008-09 model has been completely updated and is also 2.5" longer, has a soft head pillow, bamboo wooden arm rests...and comes in 3 great colors (blue, pink and stripe).

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this chair, January 6, 2008
This review is from: Ostrich 3 N 1 Beach Chair - Blue White Stripe (Misc.)
My wife and I love this chair. I find it very comfortable to sit on as well as lay on. I like that it is raised alittle so you are not sitting in the sand. I saw someone reading on the beach in the chair and thought it was a smart idea. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a great beach chair!!!

Beware! This is a extremely low quality product. It is way too short to be a lounger and in no way to be comfortable in ANY position. Returned it right after I opened it and was shocked by its quality.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Design Nightmare, September 7, 2007

This chair is a design nightmare especially if you wear glasses. When I used this chair (and I kept it only one day) I found problem after problem that I had to overcome. First the rectangular hole that you look through to read a book is surrounded by scratchy, extremely uncomfortable velcro which attaches the chair material to cover the hole when the chair is being used in a normal manner. But take that patch off and try to put your face down on the opening and the velcro is exposed. OUCH!
So I cut a piece of fabric larger than the opening and then cut a hole in that fabric so that I could still use the hole in the chair. The fabric was able to protect my forehead and cheeks. Ahhh at last, I thought, I would be able to use the chair outside and read.
But next was my glasses. My bifocals did not work because the book was below me, but the magnified part of my bifocals was on the lower part of the glasses, so all I could read was the bottom half of each page. I was going to have to keep moving the book up and down in order to read. So I went upstairs and got a pair of full sized cheaters. Problem solved--or so I thought. Now equipped with different glasses I begin to realize that the book is too close to my face for me to read, even with reading glasses. Normally I would place a book somewhere near about 14" from my face, but the space between the height of the chair and the ground is only about 8" or 10". So the book was definitely too close to focus comfortably. But that's not all. As I struggle to read, I notice that the glasses are smashed up against my face, literally right on top of my eyes, because the chair opening pushes them tightly on my face. This is very uncomfortable, but I really like the chair so I decide I am going to deal with it. I want to be able to read outside and this chair is perfect and I am bound and determined to make it work. Problem was that since it was hot outside, my glasses kept steaming up and I had to keep wiping them with the fabric shield I had made to protect my face.

But wait there's more. Now there's the book to deal with. The wind keeps blowing the pages back and forth. So I have to use my flip flops to hold the pages open to the page I am on. But turning the pages has now become a real process. Not easy at all. But I am determined to keep the chair and learn to love it. So I persist.

Time does not fly by because of the pain of the crossbars on my legs. If you are taller than maybe 5 feet tall--this chair is too darn short for you. I am 5'5" and it was really painful as the crossbar at the end of the chair pushed excruciatingly into my chins. OUCH! But finally my hour on my stomach is over and I turn over on my back. The chair is still too short and the crossbar pushes painfully into my calves. But I really like the chair, so I'll deal with the pain. I think that next time I can bring out a pillow to cushion the crossbar. This chair gives a whole new meaning to the term "restless leg syndrome".

But then there was the last straw. I lean forward to get up out of the chair and it collapses and folds up with me inside. BIG OUCH! I'm sure glad I saved the box. The company was nice enough to take the chair back. They refunded the purchase price and even paid for the return shipping. But the original shipping out to me was not refunded. I spent $20 for nothing but pain and aggravation. Save your money! Get a different chair and listen to the radio.
