A Great follow up,
By
This review is from: The Other Girl: A Midvale Academy Novel (Paperback)
This book was a good sequel to the last. The whole idea didn't get tired, like what usually happens with many sequels.
Being inside Pilar's head was a fun. She seems really shallow at first, but you begin to understand why, and then there is major character development. I found myself pitying her, and liking her more than Molly. I also found the development of Edie quite interesting. Again, like the first book, the descriptions of people and their reactions was great. The reactions of boys to Pilar are priceless and can have you laughing out loud. I DEFINITELY recommend this book.

Much more enjoyable than the first book,

This review is from: The Other Girl: A Midvale Academy Novel (Hardcover)
The Other Girl is the follow up book to Inside the Mind of Gideon Rayburn. Molly McGarry has been in the mind of her boyfriend, Gideon, for about six months now. While on one hand this is great because she can anticipate his every desire there is also the downside of over hearing him checking out their beautiful classmate, Pilar. When Molly's jealousy gets the better of her she ends up breaking up with Gideon and then watching as he hooks up with Pilar. Suddenly Molly finds herself out of Gideon's mind and in Pilar's mind instead. She tries to use this opportunity to sabotage the new relationship but everything she does seems to push Gideon and Pilar closer together.
I enjoyed this book much more than the first book in the series and did not want to put it down. Gideon's mind was pretty one tracked about girls and sex. Seeing inside of Pilar's mind was much more interesting. We see that while Pilar is arguably the most beautiful girl on campus she still has her own insecurities and wants to be known for more than being the dumb cutie. I found myself liking her much more than I did in the last book and even found myself liking her more than Molly. I actually felt sorry for Pilar and was hoping there would be a happy ending for her. This book will have you smiling and laughing to yourself as you read what goes through Pilar's head. While we do not see as much of Gideon's roommates, Nicholas and Cullen, they do make some appearances that always liven up the story. It was also enjoyable to get to know Devon and Edie more in this story as well. This was a thoroughly enjoyable book that I highly suggest picking up even if not a fan of the first book.

fun teen fantasy,
This review is from: The Other Girl: A Midvale Academy Novel (Hardcover)
At Midvale Prep, students Molly McGarry and Gideon Rayburn are an entry. She is his perfect girlfriend as she knows his desires as if she is reading what is inside his head; which is what she is actually doing as she is INSIDE THE MIND OF GIDEON RAYBURN.
However, during an intimate interlude, Molly is stunned when she reads her beloved's thoughts as Gideon's mind wanders over to beautiful Pilar Benitez-Jones. Upset, but needing to conceal what she knows about his mental misdemeanor in order to hide her telepathy ability, Molly struggles with what to do next. However, she loses control of what next when somehow she mislays her brainwave connection to Gideon as her skill abruptly for no known reason that she can comprehend switches to reading Pilar. At the same Gideon starts a campaign to seduce Pilar. Although some of the support students are stereotypes of the affluent snob, Molly makes the tale with her rapid take no prisoners narration of others especially the rival. Older teen fans will enjoy her antics as she surfs heads not liking what she hears especially Gid and Pilar as a sexual entity. Sarah Miller provides a wonderful sequel as Molly is inside the mind of THE OTHER GIRL. Harriet Klausner
