5.0 out of 5 stars Best Hamptons book on the market!!!!
I'm a huge Hamptons fan who has done a share for many years. There is no other book on the market that gives as realistic an account of what the twentysomething experience is like. This book would make a great TV show! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an entertaining but clever beach read, and I can't wait to read this author's future work!

1.0 out of 5 stars Save Your Money
This book was a real disappointment. It was boring and repetitive, I could not even finish it. Each chapter involves getting drunk on Friday, "anonymous hooking up" and midnight barfing. No plot, no destination.

3.0 out of 5 stars Can Be Skipped, July 1, 2010
By
This review is from: How the Other Half Hamptons (Paperback)
I started out summer of 2010 with Lovehampton by Sherri Rifkin, a highly entertaining book about a sharehouse in the Hamptons. So when I finished that book, craving more hilarious beach reads taking place in the Hamptons, I came across How the Other Half Hamptons, expecting an equal amount of plot and character development, eloquence, and humor. Oh boy, was I wrong.

First of all, none of the characters have depth. This was highly disappointing from the start, when I noticed that the three main protagonists were very stereotypical and dull. I convinced myself that they would grow dimensions as the story progressed, but I was left turning the last few pages with disappointment. All of the characters were selfish, whiny, and very difficult to put up with at times. Second, there were way too many minor characters to keep up with. I understand that it takes place in a sharehouse with 40 people, but honestly? Rob? Brian? Craig? Steve? Tara/Jocelyn? John? Who?

The plot, like the characters, was trite and dull. Twenty-somethings drinking too much, hooking up, and cattiness. I would advise that you skip this book and find a different book about a Hamptons sharehouse. And trust me, there are several good ones out there.

2.0 out of 5 stars Jersey Shore Meets Hamptons, February 10, 2011

Very disappointing. It's like "The Jersey Shore" multiplies and rents Hamptons share house...At least one thing can be said for Jersey Shore..they don't play flip cup..Flip cup???? Seriously???? Teens maybe..20's? I dont think so..I would suggest reading "A Perfect Manhattan." At least you care about the characters..I kept hoping these characters would drown in the pool or be murdered by the crazy cabbie.. Save your money and your time.

5.0 out of 5 stars The quintessential summer beach read!, June 12, 2008
This review is from: How the Other Half Hamptons (Paperback)
Jasmin Rosemberg has created the quintessential summer beach read! If you like Emily Giffen (Something Borrowed, Something Blue), Jane Green (Mr. Maybe)or Lauren Weisberg (The Devil Wears Prada) you will LOVE this! The characters are likeable, funny and easy to relate to. Rosemberg's writing is witty and eloquent. I highly recommend this book! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this, cover to cover!

1.0 out of 5 stars Stay away from this book!, May 26, 2009

This review is from: How the Other Half Hamptons (Paperback)
This was one of the worst books I've ever read. It was a boring account of how some immature post-college kids spend weekends at the Hamptons. The characters were cliched and one-dimensional. Chapter after chapter, the book went nowhere. I kept expecting something worthwhile or interesting at some point, but it stayed its course as a horrible read through the end. I am normally a fan of breezy, light, chick lit, but this one was by far the worst I've ever read. Save your money and find another book to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, Easy Read, November 11, 2010
This review is from: How the Other Half Hamptons (Paperback)
As an avid reader of all sorts of genres, I occasionally enjoy reading a nice chick lit novel, one which is entertaining yet an easy read. How the Other Half Hamptons was a great book and provided insight into the share house culture in the Hamptons, a nice change from what we typically see from shows like the Real Housewives of NY who typically frequent the Hamptons and have an entirely different social scene. If you like chick lit, have an interest in what goes on in share houses and are looking for a fun book to take on vacation or just relax with, I would definitely suggest this.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fun and Enjoyable Read!!!!, October 21, 2010
This review is from: How the Other Half Hamptons (Paperback)
After reading only one chapter, I was hooked! Reading the trials and tribulations of twentysomething girls in a Hamptons share house was extremley entertaining and provided me with some great laughs! Having been in a Hamptons sharehouse myself in the past, I could totally relate to some of these hilarous stories and situations and it brought back some great memories of summer. The author really allows you to relate to her characthers and you wind up rooting for them. This is a must read that will not only put a smile on your face, but let you revisit the fun and crazy summers we have all come to love. A+ for the auther and the book.
