This book was expectionally good!!! It's hard to believe this is this author's first book. This book was so good..I felt like I was watching a movie! The characters in this book will have you so into this story that you will forget all about you only had an hour for lunch, the meat is in the oven or the kids are waiting to go shopping! This author makes the reader feel like a fly on the wall!
You have a woman that realizes shortly after she has said'I do' that she does not love her husband. She thinks of ways to leave her husband, but can't find the strength and heart to do so. But one night she finds a business card with another woman's name and number on it and all hell breaks loose! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Newlywed Vance and Freedom Dandridge appear to have it all - good jobs, Vance's family, and each other. On their honeymoon, Vance is in pure bliss, yet at the same time all Freedom can think of is how to get out of the rebound relationship that somehow evolved into marriage. As time goes on, Freedom accepts her role as Vance's wife and even begins to enjoy it. Until she finds evidence that he is cheating on her. Seeking revenge, she engages in a series of sexscapades with Boney, her ex boyfriend. When the old flames spark with Boney, Freedom is torn between her bad girl past and her stable lifestyle with Vance. As an added element, Freedom struggles with demons from her childhood, including her mother and stepfather.
Will Boney's old ways remind her why she left him and make her realize how much she has at home? Or will Vance's affair be more than Freedom can handle? Marlon LaSean Sanders' debut thriller, The Other Man, is a must read. Marlon's unique writing style took me several chapters to get used to, but once I got used to his style I was hooked. There are several twists in this thriller that will leave you shocked and satisfied. Wonderful!!!!,
This review is from: The Other Man (Paperback)
Freedom Dandridge is a systems analyst who should be enjoying the happiness of being a newly married woman but instead she feels regret. Her rebound relationship with successful advertising executive Vance Dandridge turned into a marriage with a man that she doesn't love. Freedom tries to find a way to get out of this marriage when she finds evidence that Vance has had an affair. This gives Freedom the perfect reason to run back to her bad boy ex-boyfriend Boney McIntyre for some steamy nights. Freedom is now torn between Vance and Boney and she needs to make a choice before it's too late. Freedom also is dealing with some childhood demons that she can no longer run away from.
The Other Man is a thrilling debut by Marlon LaSean Sanders. Sanders eloquently weaves an engaging tale about betrayal, love, self-discovery, and painful family secrets. I loved the characters in this story. I felt the different emotional levels of each character especially Freedom. By the end of the novel, readers will see the transformation of Freedom, Vance, and even Boney. Their experiences changed each of them forever. This was not just a story about an affair but about how people deal with the emotional baggage of relationships and how some decisions may not be the best for all of those involved. The Other Man is an excellent mix of drama, raw emotion, and eroticism. The Other Man is an excellent start to this author's career. |
