About the Author

Victor Ostrovsky was raised in Israel, but was born in Canada. At eighteen he became the youngest officer in the Israeli military, eventually rising to the rank of lieutenant commander in charge of naval weapons testing. He was a Mossad case officer from 1984-1986.

This book is an excellent read. This book is a must-have for everyone who is interested in secret operations, israel, political intrigues, etc. Exactly like Victor Ostrovsky's first book The Way of Deception (banned in US, Canada, Israel and several other countries), he target at the same topics, but this time from a personal point-of-view. His first book was a harder read, because of the lack of personal insight, feelings and lack of atmosphere. This book not only reveals the darkest secrets of the top-secret Mossad, it also reveals Victor Ostrowskys (Ex-Mossad agent) true self as he was an active agent and how he thought about the Mossad and their operations after he was 'de-activated'. Sometimes shocking, sometimes funny and the most important: evidence is given for the facts he reveals in his book. My resume: A must-have. Good read. Entertaining. Shocking. True. After you have read this book, you will see the world with different eyes. Either you want to join the Mossad or you will be shocked. If you order this book, you have to buy his first book also (The Way of Deception). Very good read also.

One of the most corrupt and dangerous organizations in the world today is the Mossad. "By Way of Deception" and "The Other Side of Deception" pretty well sums up the processes that are used to conduct warfare against Israel's enemies. One of the favored techniques is to attack some one, blame it on an enemy of Israel, then sit back and watch as the "innocent enemy" recieves their punishment.
Back in 1967, the USS Liberty was "mistakenly" attacked by Israeli jet fighters with rockets and cannon, bombers dropping explosives, PT boats firing five torpedos and machine gunning crewmen waving American flags and the life boats as they were lowered into the water. If there had been no survivors, the attack could have been blamed on the Egyptians, who the US public would have wanted punished. Our good ally, the Israeli goverment would have been on our side as we killed Egyptians for them. Please also read "Assault on the Liberty" and see how far the cover-up went.

As an added concern, the only country to benefit from the 9/11 World Trade Center attack was Israel. After the Muslims crashed the airplanes into the towers, Americans no longer cared about the slaughter of Palestinian people by Israel. I sometimes wonder if the Israeli Mossad was involved in the planning of the WTC attack. Reading this book only adds to my concern.

The Other Side of Deception continues where Ostrovsky's first book on the Mossad, By Way of Deception, leaves off. Ostrovsky, an ex-Mossad agent with a grudge, explains in great detail what prompted him to write his book, what were the circumstances of his exit from the Mossad, and how the Mossad tried to prevent the publication of the book. Ostrovsky also talks about his contacts with intelligence agencies of other countries. This last part of his story seems a bit strange and casts a shadow over the entire book. Like the By Way of Deception, this book too is written in the same poorly organised bad prose, but this doesn't detract from the interest in the book. Keep in mind that while Israel tried and still tries to discredit the book and its author, this book is banned in Israel. This means that neither it nor its translation can be sold in bookstores in Israel. If this book is all lies, if this book contains no truths, then why is it banned? The book is sold all over the world, and Israel isn't preventing "the world" from learning what the book contains; Why then is it so important to prevent Israelis from learning what's in this book? I have this disturbing, nagging feeling that Ostrovsky's books contain sufficiently accurate information about something that Israel doesn't want its public to know about. I really have no clue as to what that something might be, but I'm still re-reading it... Buy, read, and judge for yourself.
