4.0 out of 5 stars him a da best in the business, November 24, 2000
This review is from: On the Other Side of the Dub (Audio CD)
though the rythms on "on the other side of dub", are not fully realized dance hall, they do follow the template: redo some classic hits (in this case, studio one tracks) and add some updated lyrics. but don't be detracted; this album will shake your sound system. the lone ranger set the standard for jamaican djs heading into the 1980s. his lyrics sound fresh and inspired, and, over the rocking studio one tracks, help create an album that uniquely captures the transistion between the roots and dancehall styles. "barnabas collins" alone is worth the price of admission. the only potential downside is the straightforwardness of the dubs. but, hey, studio one rythms can always stand alone.

3.0 out of 5 stars Superior sound but why is this missing original album tracks?, July 18, 2007

While i must applaud Heartbeat for the improved sound quality and the nicer packaging i was really disappointed that they removed two tracks from the original release! While The Lone Ranger still sounds great on the extra tracks something has been lost with the new sequencing, and lack of certain key tracks ('Everything She Want' and 'Roots style' were always highlights in my book). Heartbeat did a fantastic job with the recent Studio One reissues Bobby Bobylon and the Delroy Wilson's original 12, making them even better. But in this case this one hasn't been really improved. (It is a fantastic Studio One album though and the sound is better--but not amazing.)
