Interesting insights on the behind-the -scenes happenings.,

This review is from: The Other Side of Oz (Hardcover)
I feel that Buddy could have gone more indepth on several occasions. That is why I rate this book a "4" star. Overall, the book is very good in that Buddy shares a lot of the frustrations of the happenings behind the scenes. Tells of his start in show business with his sister, to his alergic reaction to the costume of the Tin Man in "The Wizard of Oz", to his role in the Beverly Hillbillies, and beyond. Very interesting reading.

I had to pick a book for school that was on an American autobiography. I decided to pick Buddie Ebsen. When I was younger I loved the wizard of oz. I never knew he was suppose to be the original tin man. His book made me laugh and really think about the real life of Hollywood. Buddie seems to be an awesome actor and man. My favorite movie he made was Davy Crocket. I would recommend his book to all ages young and old. I really enjoyed his book.

Interesting, but much too short,

Buddy Ebsen seems to be a very nice person and writes fluently. The beginning of his life is quite well described, but I would like to know a lot more of his later TV series and movies. It was a bit irritating to get only a few stories about his later life. The font of the book was a large one. There are a lot of pictures, which are good but lessen reading. Thus one could read this book very fast. Maybe I am too harsh, but I believe he could have much more to tell about his life and especially about making those series and films. It is worth reading, though. But prepare yourself for a very short book.

Many show biz autobiographies have a few pages of photos. This edition has illustrations throughout the book: something like over 100 illustrations!

This review is from: The Other Side of Oz (Hardcover)
This Book is a nicely done Autobiography of Buddy Ebsen for whom most of us know him as Jed Clampett of the Beverly Hillbillies.Hopefully someday in the not so distant future, there should be a much waited video biography of his life and rich entertainment career,so spread the word!!Also,Where is the Max Baer(Jethro) Autobiography? It's been long overdue and we're all anxiously waiting!!

This is a great book by a true silver screen & tv legend. I learned from the Beverly Hillbillies books by Stephen Cox that Buddy was writing his own book. I couldn't wait to buy it. Buddy reveals many behind the scenes tales about his career. I never realized he played such a wide range of roles in movies. Of course he'll always be remembered as Jed Clampett & Barnaby Jones respectively. For me the best part of the book was the introduction. It's awesome to see someone buck the mighty Louis B. Mayer- & live to make movies at MGM another day! Also Buddy's tales about his 3 brushes with death throughout his life make exciting reading too. This book is a great read for film students & tv fans. Hope everybody loves it!
