5.0 out of 5 stars Everything Martin Roth gets his Hands On lately turns to gold!
This track is a slower paced male vocal trance, but not in terms of the beat or melody, rather the way it's sung. It's not your typical sounding male trance track (which there have been many as of late) and it takes a few listens to become accostomed to it.

3.0 out of 5 stars The same song 7 times
Didn't know it was a single 7 times, but that's my fault. The original mix and the deep dish is the best in the CD. I could've gotten then song from one of the whole albums.

This track is a slower paced male vocal trance, but not in terms of the beat or melody, rather the way it's sung. It's not your typical sounding male trance track (which there have been many as of late) and it takes a few listens to become accostomed to it.

I didn't like the radio edit, as it's a very short cut of the original mix and it starts with what I feel is the weakest part of the track, the guitar chords. The original mix is superb, with a faster, storming sound, not heard from as of late from PVD. It's especially not like anything on Reflections. The Deep Dish mix is a scrumptuously long journey (11:00+) into some seering house beats, meshing very nicely with Wayne Jackson's vocals. There are 3 breakbeat mixes on here, but with the great original track, the blazing progressive house mix by Deep Dish, and what I will refer to next as the best track on this single, quite frankly, who needs them!

Martin Roth had two great remixes for Blank & Jones on their Perfect Silence CD single. He also has a bootleg remix of British pop band Keane's single This is the Last Time, called Martin Roth Hands on Keane Remix that is all the rage by DJ's and trance fans this summer, and he follows that up with another incredible remix of a male vocal track. The Martin Roth remix of The Other Side is THE BEST cut of the track, by a long shot. I didn't think it could get better after hearing the original and Deep Dish, but it did! A frenzied beat at a dance floor stomping pace, adding flair and an incredible vibe to the vocals, making it all come together pefectly in this mix. When he flutters out the vocals at the end of the lyric "... tongue is tied", you know you are in for a wild ride!

I can't recommend this single enough, as you simply have to have the Martin Roth mix. With the hot Deep Dish remix as well as a great original mix, this CD is worth it's weight in gold.

Excellent...what else can one say?

Can't go wrong with this one.

Tracks 1,2,3,6 are keepers.

Breakdown follows:

Track 1 Radio mix: very, very good; 4.5 out of 5.
Short but 'sweet'.

Track 2 Original mix: excellent; 5 out of 5!
Driving beat. 'Serious' version of a great song.
Worth the price of the cd all by itself.

Track 3 Deep Dish Mix: excellent; 5 out of 5!
Deep bass driving through several variations of the theme.
A bit 'darker' than the first 2 tracks, but in a very good way.

Track 4 Mark Spoon sundown mixmix: 1 out of 5.
Well..not so good...how did it wind up on this CD?????

Track 5 Martin Roth mix: 2.5 out of 5.
Well...kind of ok...fast driving beat version.. some parts good, some parts not so good.

Track 6 Breaks mix: very good. 4 out of 5.
Drving beat. 'Refelective' version of a great song.

Track 7 Mark Spoon sunrise mix: 1 out of 5.
Well..not so good...how did it wind up on this CD?????

5.0 out of 5 stars The Roth of God, January 11, 2008
This review is from: Other Side (Audio CD)
I had only heard this track on a mix on A State of Trance, I think. I ordered the CD off the back of it and was amazed when it hit my CD tray and began playing. The Radio Edit is just so dull. And this is followed-up by a series of lacklustre remixes by people named after breakfast cereals.

But then track number 5 begins. Immediately there's a sense of drama and potential. The tempo's up, that stadium feel is right there and you have the most awesome blazing, crackling sounds, like electricity through overhead cables on a stormy day. Within seconds the hairs on the back of my neck are showing their appreciation for what is one of my all time favourite trance tunes. Martin Roth must have such incredible vision to have transformed PvD's original into this dark, intense and oh so energetic mix.

Five well-deserved stars for Mr Roth. Now stop remixing and start writing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Sex Song, March 5, 2007
This review is from: Other Side (Audio CD)
This was, for a period of roughly a month, played every time my girlfriend and I 'enjoyed each other's company." The poor girl was tired of it after a while I am sure, but I couldn't resist. It is a really good song, especially for those cheese-ball trance types like myself who prefer something BETWEEN DJ Tiesto and Enya. Again: try during...
