Ok, almost three years after the release of her 5th solo album, Wynonna is still being hounded for this "over produced" and lack of style album. But c'mon. Have you listened to this CD? I mean really listened to this CD?

The CD starts out with the top ten hit, When Love Starts Talkin. Now, after one listen, I can guarantee you'll be doing your own lip synch to this song. This song is one of those killer songs you just want to rock out to in the car on a long drive across the country. Other highlights on this album include the title cut. Written by fellow country crooner Kevin Welch, The Other Side invokes a feeling of belonging to the lyrics. I think we can all relate. Wynonna trys her hand at song writing on Troubled Heart and a Troubled Mind. Does it work? It is a great attempt, not quite as good as her previous authorship (One Hundred and One--from The Judds LCBAB 1990 album). She has some slow ballads, including Come Some Rainy Day, dedicated to her sister, Ashely. Mama Judd shows up on Don't Throw that Mojo on Me, a song that showcases Wy's characteristic style. Kenny Wayne Shephard adds guitar licks as well. Why Now and Always Will shower us with lyrics that elicit thoughts of "yes! I know what she is talking about." A rather weak duet with John Berry is also included here.

The Other Side might not be one of Wynonna's best, but it does show R&R that she is not afraid to take a chance. It is too bad that the music industry does not share that same bold approach and instead embraces the pop like country divas of Shania and Faith. I mean can they really hold their own against the powerhouse voice of Miss Judd? Take away all of the pomp and circumstance and all you have left is your voice. Wynonna Judd will be the last one standing!

First, this album is fantastic. Artists like Wynonna are few and far between. This album combines rock, blues, soul, and country into an irresistable mix of soul stirring, toe tapping music. Standout cuts are "Always Will" (Wy had the Irish thing goin' on way before the Dixie Chicks!), "The Other Side," "The Wyld Unknown," and "Why Now." But, I must say, the most incredible cut is "Come Some Rainy Day." It's one of those songs that can take you to another time and place. My question is, WHY isn't this music getting the airplay it deserves? The fact is, Shania may have the body, but Wynonna has got the soul!!!

If you like Blues, Country and a little rock and roll in your world this is the album to get. WY really shows off her talent on this album. My favorite is the blues sounding Don't Work That Mojo....., next is the Love Stats Talkin, the mellow but uplifing The Other Side. Wynonna has really developed her talent and tells us a littlle of her challenges and triumps on this album. Great album!

Wynonna is doing the music she wants to do and if country radio won't play it then in my opinion they are at a loss. Granted this cd is a mix of country rock and blues Wynonna kicks serious butt on this cd my favorite is Don't Throw That Mojo on Me. She preformed it live at a show and just wowed the crowd. Expand your horizons and give this cd a chance you will be quite pleased with it

I believe Wynonna has been underestimated on this album. There are probably only two substantial hits off this album, one being a top 10 radio hit, When Love Starts Talkin' and the piano ballad, Come Some Rainy Day. However, Wynonna shows alot more potential on some of the other songs than what has been credited for. The song, Love Like That, is a sassy, upbeat, jumpy party song where Wy cleverly uses her voice to "jump out at you" during the play. Such sweet ballads include the songs, The Kind Of Fool Love Makes and We Can't Unmake Love (which is NOT weak at all). I think Wynonna found her theme song with "The Wyld Unknown". Judd fans may not take to this fast paced, "rocker of a song" but it perfectly portrays Wynonna as everything she is. It definately wins at concerts. Wynonna also takes us back to the Judd days with musical guest, Naomi, who, with Kenny Wayne Sheperd, brings back a sound deeply missed. The two songs, Love's Funny That Way keeps the party of the album going and as usual, Wy ends the album with a very "unforgetful" Always Will. I believe this album is worth the purchase. I agree that it's not the best out of her collection of solo pieces but I do rate it higher than her Revelations album.

Brazen, sassy, soulful, and touching are just a few words that can describe this fantastic title by Wynonna. From "When Loves Starts Talkin" to "The Wyld Unknown", this CD rocks and it definately can't be classified as just a "Country" title.

But it offers more than just rockers. Tracks like "...Mojo on Me" and "Love like That" show that Wynonna is not a one dimensional artist.

Finally, this CD has one of the best written songs I've ever listened to in "Come Some Rainy Day". I dare anyone not to be touched by this instant classic. Come on, I dare ya? Check out Wynonna' The Other Side....it's a winner!!

Wynonna sounds richer and fuller than ever, her voice and lyrics swelling with a newfound confidence. THE OTHER SIDE is solid evidence of Wynonna's willingness to explore the boundaries of country music; in "Don't You Throw That Mojo On Me," she is delightfully full of bravado, fiercely tackling the bluesy song. "We Can't Unmake Love" shows a soft, restrained Wynonna harmonizing beautifully with singer John Berry, and the ballad "Come Some Rainy Day" is a classic torch song brought to life by Wynonna's powerful, emotional vocals. Most emblematic of THE OTHER SIDE, however, are forceful, upbeat country songs such as "The Wyld Unknown," with its direct and unmistakably personal lyrics: "You don't want to cross my little mama/And you sure don't wanna mess with me/Cause there's a wild streak running down from the roots/To the top of my family tree."

Buy This CD! You'll thank me later. She sings her soul out! If you like gutsy girl singers, you'll like this CD! Go Wynonna!

This cd is fabulous. It's another example of the true talent that we know as Wynonna. Her vocal abilities are superb and flawless. Her renditions of these songs are deeply emotional whether they are upbeat and fun or heart wrenching and tender. There are alot of fun songs on this cd such as "Don't You Throw That Mojo On Me" (a duet with Naomi) to "Wyld Unknown". There's also the heart felt "We Can't Unmake Love" (a duet with John Berry) and "Come Some Rainy Day". Every song, whether fast or slow, makes you feel the emotions that Wynonna feels as she sings. She is a truly talented and gifted woman. Love this cd and highly recommend it to everyone.

Wynonna's fourth studio album THE OTHER SIDE is not a bad album, but its not her best, but its still a good album. Confused? Well the album has those Southern Rock/Blues type songs like the lead single "When Love Starts Talkin'" and "Don't You Throw That Mojo On Me" (with Naomi Judd and Kenny Wayne Shepard), "The Wyld Unknown" and more. She covers the Linda Davis song "Always Will" and as usual, does an excellent job, with her powerful vocals with just improve with time. "The Other Side" is a spiritual type song, it just had a deeper meaning you have to listen for. "Come Some Rainy Day" in my opinion is one of the best songs she's recorded, a tender beautiful ballad that just reaches out and touches your soul. Very powerful song "We Can't Unmake Love" is a wonderful duet with John Berry. Overall though, this album is strong, but it lacks something. Maybe it depends what type of music you like to hear from Wy, because it appeals to everyone, but something was missing, but its still a pretty good album!
