Lush dance music,
By
This review is from: The Other Side Of Your Mind (Audio CD)
This is lush dance music, not synthpop or ebm, which usually lack the kind of synth wizardry to convey a great ethereal atmosphere. (Not always, Rupesh Cartel makes absolutely great synthpop, but that's a different act)
With Seize, you have a stunning vocalist who conveys deep emotion. The music is absolutely great, although the beats are more break oriented than your typical dance music out there. What makes this album different is that it's not trip-hop. Everytime I hear breaks, I expect yet another trip-hop release, but this group is different, they utilize synths to convey a great deal of atmosphere, and the breakbeats have more energy than the more downtempo trip-hop albums. This is not synthpop, it's not trance, and it's not trip-hop, which makes it all that much more interesting. It' different, it's lush, and absolutely exquisite.

Interesting, if a little generic,

When I bought this album, I was sort of expecting something a little more along the lines of synth-pop or EBM.. I'd heard the vocalist on a song for Parallel Project and figured, hey, might as well try it. Well.. I'd have to say it's more along the lines of some fairly generic, typical 'dance' music for the most part, but the vocalist is the star of the album. It's still very club-oriented and not the most stand-out work I've ever heard.
