This review is from: The Other Woman (Harlequin Temptation, No 451) (Paperback)
Soap-opera actress who usually plays the seductive other woman gets a part in a big-budget film but gets distracted by cinematographer Hero's intense & constant attention. Hero is strongly drawn to her & approaches her about a short-term affair but heroine rebuffs him despite her attraction to him. Heroine is used to rejecting men's advances & dealing with their wrong assumptions about her but she's not indifferent when Hero does it. She eventually succumbs to their distracting attraction & agrees to a fling. Hero ends up being greatly disturbed by her easy dismissal of their r/s yet doesn't want to commit to more b/c he doesn't want to be betrayed again like his ex-wife did to him. Heroine is hurt but accepts his failure to commit & plans to live her life without him especially since she found out she's having his baby.
I liked this book. It had a short yet satisfying romance. I was hesitant about reading a romance with Hollywood people b/c they tend to be jaded & worldly. But heroine had an innocence & simplicity about her although she's worked at Hollywood for years & had a few failed affairs. Hero whose family is famous in Hollywood is jaded due to his bitter experience with marriage but still hopes to find a woman who is trustworthy & principled. They mesh well together but have issues from their past that they brought into their r/s. Their resolution was convincing & showed that they both matured to make the decisions that they did. Sexual chemistry & love scenes were passionate. Recommended. |
