5.0 out of 5 stars THE NEW AND BETTER SEX PISTOLS? HELL YEAH!, Joe Smith, June 20, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Others (Audio CD)
As far as I'm concerned William and Lackey are a good anough reason to buy this album alone. Cause The Others, their self-titled deput, will prove to anyone that they really do live up to their high expectations. In my opinion they are a hell lot better then most of the indie bands out there at the momment, so buy this instead.
They are also a great live band so if you are still a little doubtful go and check them out.
Only 1 warning then, do not expect the most impressive singing but then be surprized by the fact that doubtless of the vocal work, The Others can still be brilliant.

the stream of music coming out of england right now confounds me. with bands like bloc party, the kaiser chiefs, and our long lost libertines, it came as no surprise to me when i fell in love with the others after a mere 10 seconds. listen to in the background, lackey, psychovision and this is for the poor....you'll love it.

1.0 out of 5 stars This Album REALLY blows, May 25, 2005
This review is from: Others (Audio CD)
Ugh. The Others keep getting mentioned in the same breath as a lot of fantastic bands coming out of the UK right now, but they do not have an ounce of the talent, charisma or tunes that bands like Bloc Party, Babyshambles or the Kaiser Cheifs have. The lead singer is a tuneless arse, bellowing cliched schoolboy lyrics over leaden music produced by what looks like a bunch of overweight ex-goths having their last stab at making it. I actually saw The Others play 'On The Rocks' in East London long before their deal and even then they where considered the band least likely to. The NME though, gullible as ever, hyped the crap out of them after it emerged that Dominic Masters was mates with Pete from The Libertines / Babyshambles. Then all it took was one interview where Dominic jumped on the 'I smoke crack' bandwagon which gets the middle class college kids who write for the NME these days very excited and boom, here they are. And listening to this album, nothing has changed over the intervening years except that reviewers standards have seemingly lowered. Save your money and spend it on glue or beer - this album is really pitiful.
