5.0 out of 5 stars Great natural light!
I have the table/desk version of this lamp and I absolutely LOVE it! I have it in my living room and receive many compliments on how attractive it is. The best part about it, though is that it provides great natural light. As a knitter, I find colors look as they would be in the sunlight. 1.0 out of 5 stars Sure, it looks nice...
Very disappointing. I intended to use this lamp at the "tallest" setting. Unfortunately, the lamp is top-heavy when extended to the maximum height. The base was wobbly to begin with, but the lamp was extremely unstable at the 64" height. 1.0 out of 5 stars A pretty door stop, March 10, 2006
By
I bought this lamp to do needle work while family watched tv. The lamp it self is very pretty but not functional.

The bulb is very difficult to reach and pull out. You can't remove the lamp shade to get at the bulb. If you have weak, short or stubby fingers this task is nearly impossible. The square base of the bulb makes removal from the lamp very hard. There is not much clearance between the shade and the spiral shaped bulb.

I had a lot of problems with my lamp. I bought it and found it too bright for my needs so it decorated a corner of the room. Several months later I needed the lamp and used it for 6 hours. The next day it would not turn on. I bought an expensive new bulb for it but that did not work. Ott light sent me a new ballast (the plug) but that did not do the trick. I had to ship it back to the manufacturer at my expense to replace the starter and then to add insult to injury, I had to pay to ship it back to me for warranty work.

I would not buy this lamp again, heck, I have paid 30% in repairs and replacments just to get it to work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great natural light!, June 20, 2008
I have the table/desk version of this lamp and I absolutely LOVE it! I have it in my living room and receive many compliments on how attractive it is. The best part about it, though is that it provides great natural light. As a knitter, I find colors look as they would be in the sunlight. The Ott-lite brightness makes it very easy to see stitches even when working with tiny needles or busy yarns -- also good whenever I add beading to fabric. And reading by this light is a joy; my eyes don't tire or water as they do when reading by regular light bulbs. I can't address the issue of the unstable floor lamp base; however, the desk lamp version has a very stable base. I use a different style Ott-lite floor lamp in my sewing room when I quilt. It's more office-like in appearance but still provides that wonderful natural lighting.

This is a great lamp which makes all the difference when you're working on dark colors. This is my second one. Except for the shade which is way too heavy and impossible to replace, this is a great product.

2.0 out of 5 stars Height Adjustment Weak Point, January 26, 2010

The Lexington by Ottlite looks nice, the light spectrum is a good task light however, this lamp is top heavy the bulbs are expensive to replace and like many reviews elsewhere on the web state, once the set screw used for adjusting the lamps height strips your options for repair are limited and your $200. essentially is now junk unless you somehow clamp or duct tape your height. Ottlite needs to have China redesign that adjustment screw to be more substantial. My recommendation - Just for the wimpy height adjustment screw, Do not buy this model.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice, but . . ., October 10, 2006
Impossible to find replacement bulbs. This lamp takes an 18 watt OTT bulb with a narrower base than now being made.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the Lexington Floor Lamp, September 17, 2010

I love my new Lexington Floor Lamp. I use it for both reading and sewing. It is very attractive, height is adjustable, shines brightly without the heat of a regular lightbulb using only 18 watts and lets the natural color of the fabric I am working with show through. I couldn't be more pleased. I highly recommend it to all my quilting friends.

1.0 out of 5 stars External ballast burned itself up, June 13, 2010
This review is from: Lexington Floor Lamp (Misc.)
The light worked fine for a while. However, this morning, the 'Simple Reactance Ballast' that powed the lamp burned itself up. Luckily, it tripped the breaker, and did not start a fire. It smoked the outside of the ballast.

The external ballast is Cat, No. HB-18P-2. So far, I don't see it for sale anywhere.
