Specially designed for exceptional viewing and reduced eye fatigue, this OttLite W9437T floor lamp helps take crafting to the next level. The lamp features OttLite 508 technology, which makes it possible to see colors and details accurately, similar to that of natural daylight outside. This is not the case for most indoor light sources. Some light wavelengths make it easy to see vibrant colors, while other wavelengths ensure high contrast and crisp clarity, each wavelength with its own drawback of having to squint from the brightness or having to compromise on color fidelity. OttLite's 508 technology provides the best of both, offering a precise balance between contrast and brightness--with no harsh glare or distortion like with other standard indoor light sources. The lamp's low-heat, energy-efficient 18-watt bulb (included) lasts up to 10,000 hours (replacement bulb type B), and its rotating wide-wing shade and adjustable gooseneck arm allows for illuminating large work spaces and directing light where it's needed most. As an extra bonus, the floor lamp comes equipped with a 3x optical-grade magnifier with a 6-inch diameter, adjustable height, and gooseneck for effortless positioning and hands-free viewing.
Powerful and versatile, the floor lamp makes the perfect companion when knitting a sweater, mixing and matching colors for an art project, sewing trendy garments, or creating a scrapbook to share at a family celebration. Swing the magnifier into place when making jewelry, beading, or working on intricate needlework. Or carry the floor lamp from the sewing/craft room to the home office or out into the living room when it's time to pay the bills or help the kids with their homework--the lamp's clarifying illumination and optional magnifier make it exceptionally useful for a variety of crafts and everyday tasks. Standing from 50-3/4 to 62 inches high, the floor lamp provides durable plastic construction, a sturdy 10-1/2-inch-wide base, and a lightweight design at just under 11 pounds for comfortable transport from room to room.
OttLite's passion for creativity and forward-thinking design has resulted in illumination that not only looks beautiful, but also operates with energy efficiency and superior performance. True colors, clear details, and reduced glare and eyestrain represent just a small sampling of the OttLite difference. From craft and task lights to table and floor lamps, magnification fixtures, decorative accent pieces, and more, OttLite's commitment to designing elegant, functional lighting infuses its entire collection with well-made excellence. Since 1989, OttLite has been bringing the sunny goodness of the great outdoors inside with its full line of fresh, contemporary lighting options.

I've since purchased Ott desk lamps and use them at my office and home, and I have Ott floor lamps in both places including by the bedside for reading at night. One of the floor lamps that I own is identical to this model except for color, and it does not include the magnifying glass arm.
In my experience over this period of several years I am convinced that the Ott bulbs do produce very natural lighting for comfortable reading and I am completely satisfied with them. I have also had no problems with any of my Ott products (2 desk lamps and 3 floor lamps), either with respect to the quality of the lamps or lifespan of the bulbs. (I therefore have no experience with Ott customer support because I have not had reason to make use of it).
(A comment regarding their customer support based upon my reading of other customer reviews here on Amazon. I have noticed that Ott customer support has individually responded - via "comments" - to many if not all of the negative customer reviews posted to their products here on Amazon, asking that the persons who have had a bad experience contact Ott so that their problems could be corrected. That is something that I have not noticed with other products and suggests to me that they are really paying attention to customer feedback and want to provide good customer support. Based on that I would expect problems to be handled by them in a very good way.Read more ›
I have not had any trouble with it tipping over, but I have it snug against my chair and end table. I had a friend put it together but from what I saw, I could have handled it myself. I didn't realize how much I had missed this hobby, if all you need is better light to do the things you've been putting off, this is the light for you.
This lamp is very expensive and I debated for weeks before buying it and boy I'm glad I did.
Turns out I'm not blind, I just needed better light. The magnifier is large, I was worried that it would be too small to hold my embroider hoop underneath, no problems it is just the right size, but I barely need it. The light itself is Awesome! with such a bright light overhead I can see terrific.
Absolutely worth every penny. I did sew a little bag out of felt to cover the magnifier when not in use, it does scratch easily. Also be careful what you clean it with, I used a paper napkin when I first got it and I think it put some faint scratches on the lens.

I was disappointed because from the description it had a telescoping feature on the magnifier. Plus, I am not happy with the cover on the light. Read morePublished 18 months ago by suzanne langfitt
It's pretty ugly, so I keep it in the closet, but it works especially well for knitting. I'd buy it again unless I were rich and had the bucks for a pretty one!Published 22 months ago by Michele Peterson

This is a great light. Shows colors clearly and the lamp itself is very stable. Magnifying glass is a real perk for those tiny, tiny things old eyes don't see anymore :)Published on May 15, 2014 by Ragna
