The Ottawa Citizen began as The Packet in 1845, and has continued as the first choice for news and information in Canada's capital for over 160 years. Each week, eight out of ten newspaper readers in Ottawa stay informed with the Citizen's in-depth analysis of local, national and international news and events. Distribution of the Citizen includes home delivery, retail stores and boxes and, a 24-hour, up-to-the-minute breaking news and information website. Combined, this aggregated audience reaches half a million residents of Canada's capital each week.

The Kindle Edition of the Ottawa Citizen contains articles found in the print edition, but will not include some images and tables. Also, some features such as the crossword puzzle, box scores and classifieds are not currently available. For your convenience, issues are automatically delivered wirelessly to your Kindle starting at 5:00 AM Ottawa local time.

2.0 out of 5 stars Has potential but overpriced November 8, 2010
I've had a subscription for over a month but just cancelled. I just find it a little expensive considering I can get a lot of news on the internet for free. If the price was cut in half I would consider it again because it is very convenient to turn on the kindle in the a.m. and have it downloaded in 30 seconds. However, the last couple of editions didn't download the front page and all the news articles. So much for reading the Saturday paper. There was no explanation and no later download of the full edition later in the day. Not very good customer service if you ask me. This is not the format for those who like to see all the pictures. The good news is that there are no ads. I will say that reading a paper on the kindle is a pleasure because the screen is so easy on the eyes and you can take the kindle anywhere. If you take the bus and would rather read the paper than chat, you may want to try it. You can also browse the articles and pick the ones of most interest to you and skip the others.

1.0 out of 5 stars Good (ie not great) Product, Too Expensive December 10, 2010
By David
WOW - A good copy of the paper. On the iPad and internet Free - but with pictures - on the Kindle very few pictures and either $16.99 or 9.99 depending on where you are on

I really like reading it on the Kindle, even the minimum pictures would be okay. But when you compare prices.

* Kindle $16.99 - but limited
* Internet $Free - but limited
* iPad $Free - looks nice
* Digital $9.99

I even saw it on for $9.99 - but my bill comes back at $16.99.

Time to cancel before my 14 day sample subscription is finished!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but buggy! November 6, 2010
I have been getting the Citizen on my Kindle for a few weeks now and have been over all pleased with it. All the articles and editorials without all the junk! But in the last week I have been getting incomplete editions - whole sections missing! My current Saturday edition is missing the Front Page, News, City and Sports sections for crying out loud! If this keeps happening it is not worth the money!

I recently cancelled my subscription after being a subscriber to the daily edition for well more than a year. I cancelled because Postmedia reduced the daily Kindle edition to a handful of stories from the full edition of the paper. Brilliant marketing strategy: give subscribers much less for the same price. Now I get my news from sources other than the Ottawa Citizen.

5.0 out of 5 stars High marks for Citizen February 20, 2014
Ottawa Citizen writers report on controversies without bias. They do not bow down to the Canadian government, large corporations or environmental groups. I also like the good grammar and logical flow of the articles.
