Good fit, Good design, Great protection.

For those of you concerned about weight, it does make the tablet heavy, but it is well worth it for the added peace of mind.

The old adage 'you get what what you paid for' fits perfectly here. Otterbox has once again made a great case for yet another device. This time for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. And it's about time. I struggled with another case (nice but zero protection) and then when this finally appeared on the market it was out of my budget. So I waited and it eventually dropped thirty bucks, so I snagged it up. It's a near perfect case created for ultimate protection.

The case comes in three parts plus a cover that doubles as a stand. I guess that makes it four parts. The first two are plastic lined with protective foam pads that keep your Galaxy Note from getting scratched. They snap tightly in place and then the thick rubber outer shell snaps into place over that. The three create a solid protective layer around your device. The cover snaps in place over the face or back (when in use). It has rubber feet to keep it from sliding or scratching a surface. It also doubles as a two level stand which is very handy.

The micro sd card slot is covered but the rest of the ports are clearly seen. The s-pen slot is large and allows for easy extraction. The problem is the Samsung proprietary port is covered up too much to allow the Samsung card readers and USB adapter to fit. (The charger plug still works well.) Unfortunately this is a big design flaw. So now every time I need to use one of these adapters I have to remove the entire Otterbox case. This is a major pain. Not sure how this could have slipped by the designers.

Some have complained the s-pen does not work well because of the clear plastic face shield but I did not find this to be so.

Except for the one major design flaw it's a great case.

This may be overkill... but I'm thinking I could beat someone with this and then still be able to check my email! All kidding aside, it turned a think fragile tablet into a thick beast... I hope to never test the protection, but I feel it has a very good chance of surviving a beating, or a dropping.

DISCLAIMER: This is if the OLDER version of the Note 10.1. from what I have seen of the new 2014 Note 10.1, this will not fit the newer Note.

I'm kind of surprised there aren't more reviews for this case right now. I've been waiting for otterbox to release a case for my Note 10.1 since I bought the tablet.

So then, first off, if you're looking for something slimming and low profile, look elsewhere. This adds bulk. It's adds about twice the girth to your tablet. That being said, this will protect it. I haven't dropped it off a roof, but there are people who have purely to test it out. The iPad otterbox is very similar, so if you want to see drop test, just search youtube "ipad otterbox drop test." You'll see what I'm talking about. These things can take a beating.

It looks very nice. Black, sleek, and professional. If you haven't had an otterbox before, know that if you're taking the case off all the time and putting it back on, the outer silicone will stretch out slightly around the edges, and it won't look as nice. It will still be an effective case, but the aesthetics go down a little bit. So I wouldn't suggest removing it too often.

This case does add substantial weight to your tablet, even without the face-plate on. It feels maybe twice as heavy, maybe a little less. But it's not unbearable, and it's still easy to hold for long periods of time.

The face-plate is great. It snaps on the front to protect your screen while you are traveling, and snaps on the back for storage while you're using the tablet. It also serves as a really nice stand. It feels very study when using it as a stand. It has both viewing mode, and typing mode, like you'll find with most tablet cases.

I recently survived a small house fire. My tablet was with me in a very confined space, along with several other electronics. I saw the fire flash up around me, 360 degrees in less than a second. All I could think was "get out, get out". Later that night the firefighter brought me my Samsung Galaxy 10.1 and the thing was still playing music. I was totally shocked. The otterbox screen was partially melted in places but it peeled right off and there was no damage to the Tablet itself. Amazing product.

I bought the Galaxy Note 10.1 for 2 primary purposes: (a) general multimedia entertainment, and (b) general education / motor skills improvement for my 3-year-old. As you can imagine, 3-year-olds and expensive electronics don't always get along well, so I chose the best possible case money could buy.

The case is constructed of 4 pieces: 2 plastic components that form a shell around the tablet (one of them contains the screen shield), a rubber case around the bottom component, and a separate thick plastic cover that can snap onto the front for travel, onto the back for holding, or acting as a support for viewing, with a choice of 2 angles.

Several prior reviewers mentioned they removed the plastic screen shield to improve screen sensitivity. I can confirm that sensitivity certainly deteriorates, but the device is still usable for most purposes (tapping, swiping, etc). Any software requiring fine sensitivity will not work, however. The device will be unusable for any fine drawing or note taking. That wasn't a factor in my decision making, so I chose to leave the screen shield in place.

The case fits like a glove, adds significant bulk and weight, and allows for access to everything on the Note, except for the SD card. I have no need to swap out cards, just inserted a 64GB SanDisk card prior to encasing it.
