Rugged, Multi-Layer Case

OtterBox is the innovator of the first multi-layer case. Since that first case many have tried to create something similar, but nothing beats the original. Innovative engineering and precision design work together to create this multi-layer case that provides trusted protection against drops, dust, scratches, and shock.

High-Quality Materials

The Defender Series is made up of a two-piece polycarbonate inner shell that deflects impact force, a self-adhering screen protector that guards against scratches and scrapes and an outer durable synthetic rubber slip cover that absorbs impact. These materials work together to take on the heavy use and accidental abuse that can happen to your Galaxy Note 10.1.

Included Shield Stand

This Defender Series case comes standard with a shield stand. This stand provides added protection when covering the touch screen during transport. It also provides for convenient use with comfortable typing and viewing angles.

Technology Use Without Worry

This is the case you need if you want to be careless, are tough on technology, anticipate heavy use, or are just plain clumsy. Enjoy your reading wherever you like without worrying about damaging your Note 10.1 along the way.

It’s An OtterBox

With any OtterBox protective solution, you can expect a premium product from the #1 most trusted case brand in smartphone protection.* Known for rugged protective products, OtterBox cases deliver incredibly tough protection to prevail through your always-on lifestyle. This is a great case. It loosks great, and fits perfectly. It really gives you the sense that your tablet will be well protected.

The only drawback is the built in screen protector. It causes a phenomenon known as Newton's Rings. This is an interference pattern created by light reflecting between two surfaces. In this case the tablet's screen and the screen protector. It causes concentric circles to form randomly throughout the display area. Some people refer to it as the oil slick effect because it looks like puddles of oil and water mixed together like those you might find in a parking lot.

A couple of suggested fixes include adding an anti-glare screen to the tablet, or puffing an invisible mist of baby powder to the inside of the built-in screen protector. These work because they change the way light is being reflected between the two surfaces. The baby powder fix is temporary as eventually the light misting will disapate.

The best solution for me was to just remove the built-in screen protector all-together. Because with the holes in the case for the speakers, dust would get in between the screen protector and the tablet's screen that you couldn't remove without taking the case apart, and was very annoying. By removing the built-in screen protector you can just add any type of screen protector you want directly to the tablet, if any is desired.

I agree with what M. Howard said. I was NOT expecting this to have a screen protector, so I bought a set for $15.00 (or so). The screen does get those little rings, and I am tempted to do what he has done and take the screen protector out and put the $15.00 one in. A little note is that the OtterBox adds a SIGNIFICANT amount of weight to the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. It also comes with a detachable gray thing that appears as if it should convert into a stand, but I haven't figured it out (nor have I really attempted to) yet. Just prepared for the added weight of the case! Other than that, I (and a good friend of mine) have experience with OtterBox and am proud to say it definitely makes whatever is encased with it last through THOUSANDS of drops, bumps, and oopsies! (I am one very clumzy girl.)

The otter box case for the note 10.1 has a nice clean look / design. It fits the device very well and provides the protection I was looking for. However, for the cost of the case it should. I ordered the glacier and am happy with it.

I have not had any problems with the dust showing between the screen protection but have only had the case for a month. I do agree with the need for better anti-glare in the shield. The lid which converts to a stand is easy to use and props the note well. If you are one to hold your device more than using the stand or your lap, you will find that the extra protection does add weight.

One issue I have found is trying to find a quality, compatable keypad that works without having to take off the otter case.

I would definately recommend the purchase of the case.
