Cures Lap Boredom,
By
This review is from: OtterBox Waterproof Case for iPod nano 2G (Clear) (Electronics)
I'm a pretty enthusiastic fitness swimmer and like many fitness swimmers, do suffer a bit from lap boredom. I bought the Otterbox for my 2nd gen nano and am thrilled I did. Lap boredom is gone, and I get my tunz just like the treadmill bunnies! The case is, indeed, a bit larger than the sleek nano, but you're still looking at something the size of a deck of cards, and is still smaller than a portable cassette or disc player. When swimming, I clip it to the back of my suit, and the clip is both strong and secure. I often use the otterbox and lanyard when I'm wearing something that has no belt to clip it to when I'm doing something that might get my nano splashed (like washing dishes or cooking). The case is as sturdy as they say, protecting the nano from scratches as well as splashes or grease. The only way it could be improved would be a way to connect it to a dock connector without removing it from the case. I use it in conjunction with H2O Audio Waterproof Headphone and like the result very much.

I am delightfully surprised in this product. With the Otterbox I can take my 2nd Generation iPod Nano to the beach, the lake, the river, out in the rain and fog, camping--well--everywhere, and not worry about exposing my Nano to the elements, damaging the Nano by dropping it, or soaking it should it fall into water while in the Otterbox. I performed a test by immersing the case into a large pot of water. I let it float for awhile, and then I weighted it down. I jiggled it around in the water, as well. The case was in the water for about 2 hours. Within the box I had placed a piece of folded up papertowel. Not a single drop got through to the papertowel. I don't plan to swim while listening to my Nano, but should I be around water while listening to it, I feel very secure knowing the Otterbox is going to keep my iPod protected should my Nano be dropped accidentally into water. Another feature that is icing on the cake, for me, is an attachable/detachable lanyard! One of the best features going for the iShuffle was the fact that it could be hung around your neck. I much prefer wearing my iPod using a lanyard to hooking it onto a waistband or belt, or stuffing it in a pocket (if one is available).

this case gives pretty serious protection to your nano. I appreciate the water/sand resistance, and not having to wet my pants if i drop my nano, but it does have a couple of small drawbacks... it increases the overall size and weight of the unit exponentially, and the membrane over the touchpad doesn't always allow for accurate touch translation. this being said, i can't imagine how these drawbacks can be eliminated without possibly elimiating other features of value.
