I like this product. It is durable and cute but there is no opening for the camera on the back so you can only take pictures from the screen side, and the buttons to control the volume don't reach the actual buttons to the only way to control the volume is either to pull the rubber away and use a pen to touch the buttons or to use the screen when in iTunes or a movie

The option was b/w or b/w. :) So I went with b/w and it does live up to it's name as being a great all around protector of the ipad1. It's nice and thick with a rubber bumper around the edges though it is a bit of hassle to get apart to get your ipad into, so be patient when dissembling and reassembling. Also, came with a screen protector and I spent about $20 on it for the whole thing. All in all, a good investment. My ipad always goes with me in my backpack so if you don't need the heavy zero-shock protection like I do on the go, then there are lighter "sleeves" to stick you ipad into. The front cover protector has double duty: when you lay it flat, it has a the X-scissor pieces that pop as a back rest if you want to set the ipad up on the desktop.

Amazingly, and I don't understand why, the bottom plate that slips on/off does not have a slot to put the charge adapter through to charge the ipad. You have to take the whole plate off. I don't get it, so I just crossed drilled a few holes in the bottom piece and used a rasp to file out a slot that my charger adapter would go through. Otherwise, this is could be an easy piece to misplace or lose while charging on the go.

As well, since I use different jacks for sounds: headphones as well as mini-speakers, I had to drill out and widen the area of the plastic where the headphone jack goes through. Once I adapted these two things, it became more user friendly. This is why it's rated 3 stars on the design and functionality.

(I'll try and upload some photos)

I have an Otterbox Defender for my iPhone and it is the ultimate in protection. Got in my white/black Otterbox for my iPad 1 and it is wonderful too. Watched a video from Otter to see exactly how to put on that pesky screen protector, and got it on with just one bubble (dust particle) that drove me insane! Ended up taking the Otterbox apart and ordering a 3-pack of Plain Jane screen protectors, which came in today.

Out of the 3-pack, I ruined 2 putting them on. The bubbles were worse than the Otterbox protector. Then I had an idea, and I won't have another problem with screen protectors again!

Since the Defender completely surrounds the iPad face except for the touch screen, I simply laid the screen protector sheet on the touch screen. No pulling apart adhesive backing or anything. I left all that intact. In fact, now I have 2 layers of protection on my screen! Keeping the protector in place, I slid the Defender case together and had a great screen, no bubbles, and double the protection!

I wish I had thought of that before I bought the 3-pack of protectors, but I wanted to put on this review so others could benefit from my idea. It works great with the Defender because of its design!

I love this case, its very protective and has style. There are some things you should know before you buy it. If you have the Zag screen protector it makes its very difficult to take it off. If you use a thinner screen protector it will fit perfect and comes off easy. So if you have the zag take it off and get a thinner one. I love how the stand turns the front of the otterbox into a another protective layer. I bring my ipad to school and i still have books and i always worried that one day my books would crack the screen or something. Now i dont have to be to worried about it anymore. The otterbox does add weight to your ipad but it doesnt bother me at all because it is my backpack with my other stuff so it didnt make a difference to me. This Otterbox has also saved me. One of my freinds threw and football at me to catch and i was focused on catching the ball that i dropped my ipad on concrete with the otterbox on and when i saw it there i checked to see if it was damage and there wasnt a scratch just some dust on the silicion. So im am very happy that i bought this product and i hope yall buy also.

I have owned a couple of Otterbox products previously and am a fan of their products. Although this is not a minimalist type case, and does add to the size of my iPad, it does do a great job. I knew what to expect in terms of the ruggedness and size of the case, and it is working well. It is funny to think that with the case on it is thicker than my MacBook air, but I certainly feel like it is well protected. It is also great to have a built-in stand for watching movies. My only suggestion, as others mentioned, is that everytime you charge it, it does take some effort to open the bottom access panel piece, though it is certainly better for it to be too tight than too loose. I remember my original iPhone Otterbox that had the flap of rubber that you pulled open to expose the power port. I do think this Otterbox is an improvement over that.

The biggest seller of all here though was the price. $25 was a fair price to pay for this case.
