So you just dropped $400 on the best MP3 player out there. (O.K. mp4 i tunes sharing but not really.) First step protect your investment in great entertainment.
I use this case at work on a construction sight, on the trails kayaking and hanging out at the beach. Except for one time on my kayak it has never been wet. I did test it in the sink with cotton balls at about 12" under water for 2-3 hours and no leaks. But what really makes this case rock is: No scratches No dirty hands, finger prints, liquids, dust, sand, mud or rain will ever touch you i pod!!! You can drop it waist height without damage ( don't know about on concrete ) Has the best belt clip easy on/off but stays on You operate the wheel from OUTSIDE very easily even with gloves! The only improvement would be if you could sink and charge without removing it from the case but other than that this will ensure you expensive toy is protected well worth $50

The best case I've ever used,
This review is from: Otterbox 908-01.3 Waterproof Case for iPod Video 30/60/80GB with Click Wheel Access (Electronics)
I love this case. It keeps my iPod well-protected from scratches, water, and potential shocks of normal usage.
There are a few potential drawbacks for some people but they have not bothered me. First, the case is much bulkier than any other iPod case I have used. Personally,I would much rather this than to have to worry about walking around with my iPod in the rain. Also, the iPod dock connector is not accessible with the case closed. Since I only use this feature at my computer and for my FM transmitter I don't mind having to open the case to be able to access this. I do worry a little about wearing down the hinge by opening and closing it at least twice a day but given the sturdy construction of this case I don't think that is an immediate concern. If I do have to replace my case in the future I would choose this case again, without hesitation.

When I got my partner a video iPod I knew she had to have something waterproof, not just scratch and shock resistant--after a bunch of research, I couldn't find anyone but Otterbox making a case that fit the bill. It seemed a little expensive, but, considering the item it was protecting, a small insurance: I didn't want her to have to hesitate about throwing it in her purse or bag and taking it with her wherever she might want music and movies. I find it is a good size and balance to hold while watching videos, and not too big clipped on the hip, though she actually puts it in her pocket (and dances around the kitchen while baking or washing dishes.) I just don't think you could consider using an iPod in wet environments without the Otterbox Waterproof case. We were both totally happy with it when my sister (notorious for dropping cell phones in toilets and drinks) got her iPod, so I said to her, you have to get an Otterbox, don't even unpack that thing until the case arrives. She procrastinated so I came back to Amazon and ordered another. I was more gratified than annoyed to see they have come down in price, but I wouldn't want to have waited: it was worth even more for the peace of mind. While nothing disgusting has occurred, I can say for a fact that between them these iPods have been camping, on walks in the rain, which included watching videos, fallen asleep with, including in the bath tub, dropped on a concrete floor (I did that one) and they are still in pristine, out of the box condition. Without the Otterbox's protection they would probably both be dead by now. The only times an iPod comes out are to charge or sinc with the computer. (The one drawback, perhaps, but it is a safer design this way.) Because it has become the thing that is always in the Otter Box, we have nicknamed the iPod the Otter.

ULTIMATE ipod Protection,

Otter Products is known for making incredibly durable cases for all kinds of equipment. This case is no exception. I know of NO other product that affords truly waterproof protection for an ipod. This case does increase the overall physical size of the ipod by a significant amount, but it is the ONLY case that makes the unit truly waterproof underwater to 3'! You can literally place your dry, pristine ipod into this case and take it out in the rain, a sandstorm (really) or any other harsh environment. The touchwheel is sealed behind a durable membrane that is bonded to the case by rubber. Even the headphone jack is protected by a waterproof passthrough that prevents ANY water intrusion. If you want to take your ipod safely where no other case will go, this is the one to have . . . and no, I do not work for Otter Products, but I do use their products regularly and give them a big thumbs up!

This little box is a sanity-saver if you swim for exercise. It works completely as advertised and does a great, great job at that.
I had a little trouble with the first one I received. I called Otter Box and they had a new one to me within a couple of days. The new one has worked perfectly for a couple of months now. I highly, highly recommend this if you use any type of electronics in wet conditions of any sort. (Make sure you get the correct Otter Box for your electronic device.) By the way, my Otter Box is for the 20 Gb iPod, so it's a little older than the newer cases.

Water and Toilet Proof - UPDATED REVIEW 7-10-2009,

UPDATED REVIEW (7/09): Otterbox appears to have gotten their act together with regards to their waterproof cases. While I am not privileged to any inside information, it appears that Otterbox began offering two different waterproof cases for the iPod Video and the iPod Classic, of which the iPod Classic is slightly thinner. My iPod Classic fits a little loose in the case, Waterproof for 80/160GB Classic Case for Otterbox Ipod Armor Classic , and using the rubber shim seemed to make it a little too tight, but I'd rather have it loose than too tight and the hinges broken. So my original recommendation to buy an Otterbox is good again, at least for the "classic."
For at least four years, possibly three, I have used the Otterbox for my iPods with excellent results. I first realized that I needed such a product when I purchased my first photo iPod several years back and read all of the reviews here on Amazon about the iPods. It seemed like anything was affecting them: water, moisture, dust, etc. After searching on the Internet for a while, I came across the Otterbox being sold. The site wasn't real pretty, but the product sounded like it was just what I needed. So I ordered one. I have not been disappointed (with the exception of when they were retooling their cases for the "classic." I wear it on my belt as I work in my yard (including putting out fertilizer in the rain), cutting grass, at football games, doing anything and everything. I had purchased several other cases, from the Extremewear to Kensington's, all very good cases, but none gave me the sense of security for my iPod, of which the first one was $600.00 and rather pricey to replace if I had to.... Which brings me to speak about my daughter... Like most young adults, she knows more than I do, so when I told her about my Otterbox, she said, "No thanks, I can take care of my iPod without that." For the record, the first one she had got dropped, and it had to be replaced. I paid for that one. The second one quit mysteriously, and had to be replaced. She paid for that one. When the third one fell out of her back pocket and into a toilet bowl, she wanted me to buy her another and she'd pay me back, but she needed it now because finals were approaching and we all know, studying for finals without music is the kiss of death on one's grades. I told her I would only if she kept it in the Otterbox. She has, and over two years later, she still has the same iPod, and it still works. I have had one issue with my Otterbox. I have broken half of the belt clip, but a call to the folks at Otterbox at 888.695.8820 gets another sent out UPS that day. In closing, whether you paid $100 or $600 for your iPod (or PDA, Blackberry or iPhone/iTouch), you need to protect it. With Otterbox, you not only protect it, but you get to use your electronic device to its full potential. For me that potential was met when I was floating on my back in the waters off of Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, with my iPod playing, while safely protected by my Otterbox, and the music coming out of the H2Audio Headset. Now, that's what a vacation from worries is all about!

I have only used it one week yet, but believe me, swimming has become a pleasure for me. Listening to my favorite music while inside the pool is a great experience and I even swim faster. Not a single drop of water inside the case, my ipod is secure

Holy huge! If you bought the ipod because of its small size and are now considering this item, yer nuts. If you are looking for something to make your significant investment all but bulletproof, look no further. i have already dropped and gotten mine wet and the protection factor is phenominal. I have also already been laughed at by the neighbors for having a small laptop strapped to my waist. Size aside, the only other comlaint I might have is that it is still easy to scratch the view area of the otterbox, but the ipod screen is still protected, maybe some of those peel away screen savers would be a good investment?

Protects the iPod and maintains full functionality. Depth rated to 3 feet. I've had mine in the pool lots of times withour incident. This case is designed for surface swimming only. It works.
