I bought this Commuter for a new phone after having one for my previous phone. I really like the covers for the headphone jack and USB port. The case nicely protects the camera on the One X. Its a little bigger than other cases but protects the best. Case is very stable installed. There is some manufacturing variability... the hard outer shell fits well but isn't perfectly lined up in some minor ways and the off allignment isn't always present (I checked out several Commuter cases at the AT&T store, some nearly perfect some a little off).

Watch out if you have a screen protector that only covers the flat area of the One X screen (doesn't fully cover the entire glass area including the curved sides) then the silicone part of the commuter case presses against the edge of the screen protector peeling it up.

I've used Otterbox Commuter cases on two iPhones and now my HTC One X. In my opinion, their quality is slipping. The rubber inner liner feels much harder and cheaper than my previous Otterbox cases. The outer shell feels very hard and cheap and still had rather large and ugly casting marks left on it from the manufacturing process. The included screen protector does not cover the entire screen. There's a 1/16" gap around the top and sides and it doesn't cover the soft buttons at the bottom of the screen at all. I don't see this screen protector lasting more than a few weeks as it's very easy to peel the corners up during use.

Having said all of that, the case does fit the phone quite nicely and I'm sure that it will protect the phone well enough.

So I ordered the case... I have had them before and love the commuter series... I have otterbox on all my portable electronics...great protection! This particular one did not fit the device I ordered it for so I sent it back :(... I paid the $2.50 postage...I didn't think that was cool since it didn't fit but it was $ big deal... Then the store sent me an email saying they were charging me a 15% restocking fee... ?? This made no cense since the product did not fit...I also have reservations that it was even the correct product in the package since it came to me bent and obviously tampered with... But, no biggie...I sent it back and contacted the store about my feelings regarding the 15% restocking fee. The following are the emails I received in response... yeah... not worth doing business with and am glad my item was not an expensive one...:

Sorry about the issues - I can assist you. What type of phone do you

The same phone required to fit this case. Please just continue with the
refund...I just found it interesting that I paid for something that did not
fit AND I paid to send it back along with a 15% restocking fee... I'm just

Tronic Deals:
Yes but if you have a different version as there is an international version
of this phone then that would be the issue and it sounds like that's what
happened. As a result we charge a restocking fee as the error was yours for
ordering the incorrect case.

ME: Really with this back and forth? Don't bother emailing me again and I won't
bother buying from you or referring others to buy from you. Good luck on
your reputation over $4.00, if that.

I waited for this case for weeks after I purchased my HTC One X (because it was not yet available from Otterbox), because I had used two other Otterbox cases for my iPhone 3S and 4S, and I was very satisfied with both of them (Otterbox Defender and Commuter). I thought the wait was worth it for my first Android phone. It wasn't. There are two design problems with this case that I noted. First, the rubber boots that cover the power and mini-jack covers have peeled off of the silicone insert in just 4 months. It is probably due to the harder, less supple wrap-around and the harder, plastic case that clamps around it. Speaking of the plastic case, the second issue is that it doesn't clamp flush against the liner on the backside of the phone near the camera and flash holes. The plastic seems warped, creating a notable ridge where the insert and the case should seamlessly meet. I have seen this problem with the same case on other HTC One X phones. I contacted Otterbox about the issues in order to get a warranty return for refund. They offered a replacment. Why would I want to waste my time to replace one defective case with another? I opted, rather, to buy another case from a different vendor. Otterbox can keep my money.

I liked the Otter Box Commuter I had for my Galaxy S II and purchased one for my AT&T HTC One X. The case fits the phone PERFECTLY! The camera and flash line up with the holes. As does the speaker. Also, the camera/flash do not seem to have any issues with the two-hole design (vs one big hole for camera/flash that many other cases have). The case does not add much bulk, considering how much protection it offers, and does not make an already wide One X feel wider.

Another reviewer mentioned that the case interfered with NFC. I found that I can still connect/beam with my Nexus 7 tablet, though the tablet does not have a case on it. So I can not comment on using NFC with two "cased" devices. Overall I would highly recommend the Otter Box Commuter!

Quick Measurements: L x W x H
Phone: 134.8mm x 69.9mm x 8.9mm (From GSM Arena's site)
Case: 140mm x 75mm x 14mm

I actually just got my Otterbox commuter case today. I was so pleased with it that I thought I'd write a review before I got too lazy.

I bought this case to replace the Otterbox defender case for my One X. The Defender case (although it was built like a tank to protect my phone) was WAY too bulky and often elicited the exclamation "that is a BIIIIIG phone; it looks like a gameboy" upon first sight. The commuter case is much slimmer, almost retaining the size of the One X, and all the ports align perfectly. The inner rubber layer hugs my phone snugly and will (I hope) protect my phone if dropped since it's about as thick as the rubber layer on the defender, and with the defender my phone would just softly thud. However, the plastic layer doesn't seem like it will add any protection against drops. But it holds the inner layer in place very very well. It kinda seems like it could actually cause more damage than helping, if dropped. It also makes the phone a little more slippery. I'm used to the grip that the defender case gives. But I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Overall, I am really glad I purchased this case; I just pray it actually protects my phone if dropped (which has only happened like, twice. phew!) My only complaints were that the plastic layer was ridiculously hard to put on, but once it was on I was golden. Also, the lock/unlock and volume buttons are a little stiff. But hopefully with time, they will soften. I also love that the top part of the phone doesn't have extra coverings over the camera and speaker like the defender case. Now I can easily clean my screen and grab my notifications drop down menu without any barriers in the way!

Very good case. fits snug. only thing I did not like was that it was a little difficult to install, but once it is on, it gives great protection. I love it!! My kids used my phone for games and it is protecting the phone very well from my kids.

I have always been a fan of Otterbox cases in the past, but they dropped the ball with the One X commuter case. After patiently waiting for a late shipment I received the case only to find that the screen protector was not included. This is frustrating because I like to toss my phone in my pocket without worrying about it. So i move on and try out the case itself, the camera lined up perfectly (I know others had complaints about this) but along the top the hard plastic shell is warped and does not grip the soft rubber undercase like it should. Overall this was a disappointing buy, from the seller forgetting the screen protector to Otterbox failing at making a consistently quality product.

I have used an Otterbox Commuter series case on my last phone and it was a perfect case in fit, manufacture, and protection. This particular one doesn't seem made to the same standards. The fit is so tight it's nearly impossible to get the hardshell on the phone, and I worry I'll damage the phone getting the case on. Plus the hardshell is a tiny bit warped on the part that wraps around the top side by the earphone jack, so it looks a little off, and the edge of the platic is not finished cleanly there. On top of that, the provided screen protector doesn't cover the entire screen, but only the image part of the screen. Why they do that is beyond me since it leaves large areas of the glass that are constantly used completely unprotected. However, I think I'm happier without a screen guard as the gorilla glass 2 by itself feels awesome, and seems to magically resist fingerprints, and has a reputation for resisting scratches too. In the end, the case feels like it will protect the phone from drops adequately, which is the most important factor.

I like the case and have good access to all the ports, camera, and speaker. HOWEVER: The "clear protective membrane" didn't work at all. Both pieces of paper delaminated when I tried to pull them off and I couldn't get the half still stuck to the membrane to come off without seriously warping the plastic. It could be there was a better way to do this but since there are NO WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS AT ALL with this product I had to go with my best guess of what the picture was suggesting.

Seriously, pictures are nice but they don't replace actual instructions. I didn't even realized the "membrane" was in the plastic bag and nearly threw it out. I'll look around online for a better screen protector to replace the one with the case. Hopefully it will be from a company that uses actual words to explain how to install it.
