Honestly I was a little apprehensive about getting an Otterbox, due to the size/bulkiness of the case compares to a case-less phone but after breaking 3 iPhones due to dropping them I figures it was time. After a day or two, I was completely used to the case. I love the silicone portion as it helps me have a better grip so that I am less likely to drop the phone. It still fits in my back pocket as well (another thing I thought the size of the case wouldn't allow). Excellent case and quality. Snug fit but still allows full functionality while protecting your phone 100%!

Dropped my phone on concrete the same day that I put this case on! Phone is still in perfect condition and so is the case. Not a scratch on either one!!!

I have been using my Otterbox Iphone 4s case for over a month now & I love it!! The protection it gives my phone & screen is amazing, I would reccommend this product to anyone with an Iphone who needs to protect it. However it does increase the size of the phone.

So I have wanted one of these for a while now and went on and read a LOT of the reviews here on Amazon. To be honest some of the poor reviews had me a little worried! But I am leaving this review to ASSURE you that nearly ALL of the negative reviews were definitely coming from operator errors (if you get my drift) and people who didnt have ANY idea what they were buying...

Clearly the Defender series is going to be a little beefy. Which I would HOPE is why your looking at this sort of case! For a big-bad iphone defending case! and that is JUST what you get! So the reviews on size I feel are unfair, based on the fact that you should have known its a sturdier case. (I find this NO problem for the protection it provides. Being a girl, I couldnt fit an iphone in my pants pocket to begin with, so its not an issue...And I would like to stress its not THAT big.

Some people (a good number) have complained about a hole on the top being for the headphones being on the wrong side...This is NOT the case people! You must open the flap to use your headphones...The hole is for the MICROPHONE! So do not fret. There is NO issue there...just people simply misunderstanding the product.

I read multiple reviews where people complained about being able to charge or undo the bottom flap, etc. Ok. It is silicone people. soft, flexible silicone...So NO you DONT need to completely take apart the cover to charge your phone. You simply lift that flap and plug in your phone. There is NO issue with it closing, because its not supposed to be closed OR completely open while charging...Again, silicone does not hinge... In fact, I am charging my right now with zero issue. All the flaps are really easy to open and close and I see no issue with them being flimsy, or too firm either.

I saw one or two people say they thought it decreased the sensitivity of the screen. I have not had that problem. As long as you get the right model and it fits well there is no reason for it to have any effect, it is just a regular old screen guard just like any other you'd buy on the market and shouldnt (and wont) effect the use of your screen. The people who complained that it messed up the lightness of the screen may have had it set to auto, and I know mine sometimes in certain light decides to stick with a darker back light setting than I would prefer. So once again, I am sure this is something that one could adjust in the settings of your phone, and not be a problem with the case.

So in conclusion, this is an AWESOME product. If you are looking for a really tough case, that looks great and you UNDERSTAND that a thin, one sided, snap on case will not be very tough...then this is for you! Please note that a LOT of the negative reviews come from people's misuse or misunderstanding of the product. NOT the product itself. I cant say how happy I am with this product and I am SO glad I went ahead regardless of those negative reviews.

I received this case for Christmas and I absolutely love it! It fits my phone perfectly, all the buttons fall right into place. My phone feels very safe. My fear of dropping, scratching or breaking it is gone. I highly recommend the otterbox to anyone with an Iphone.

I have an iPhone 4 from AT&T and this case fits perfectly. I love this stylish case. All of the buttons are accessible and protected at the same time. There are cutouts for the front facing camera and the rear facing camera. No interference with picture taking. There is a small hole in the top of the case so your noise canceling mike will fit through. A small flap on the top protects your earphone jack and it is easy to flip up if you wanted to plug them in. There are cutouts in the bottom of the case to expose your speakers with no issues. Everyone I have talked to say they can hear me just fine. The volume buttons, the power button, and the home button are all protected yet very easy to press. The screen protector is great and the touch screen is protected and works flawlessly. I was debating whether to get the Defender case or the Commuter case by Otterbox. I was a little apprehensive because some of the reviews complained about the bulk of the phone. Although the phone did add some width, I actually liked it because it makes the phone easier to carry. The Defender case provides a lot of protection, and I am very happy with the purchase. The color and design are very cute. I love the pink! I would recommend this case for anyone with an iPhone 4 or 4S. Great case to match my great phone!

I LOVE this case for my iPhone 4s! I was hesitant to purchase this model after reading a few reviews that said there were flaws in this model. I decided to take a chance and order (since the price was a lot cheaper than the retail price- by about $18). I'm so glad I did! After researching the problems, I found some informative information that clears up complaints by others about this case. If you are iffy about purchasing this case due to these two common complaints, please read the following:

As it relates to the earphone hole not being in the right place, the port cover for the earphone jack area is correct. The hole in this port is for the noise-cancelling mic. You must open the port cover to use headphones. Keeping the port cover in place when not in use will help dust and dirt from getting in.

Also, the port cover for the charging port WILL in fact stay closed. It doesn't just close by barely pushing it down, but you must press it in there via a little grove on the edge. Once that is done correctly, the port is fully and tightly closed and is flush with the case. I hope that makes sense. It would've driven me crazy if I had to walk around with this port cover hanging.

I hope this helps! I love the color of my case (gunmetal/peony) and I feel like my iPhone investment is protected with it. I tend to drop my phone a lot and need this protection. I also like that the port holes are covered to protect it from dust and dirt.

After getting word that I was going to receive an iPhone 4S for Christmas, I hastily went on Amazon to shop for an OtterBox. I found this peony pink and gunmetal grey case and ordered it. My phone came in within 4 days, a lot earlier than expected. I was very careful in handling it and didn't dare take it out of the house -- I was NOT going to get any scratches or cracks on my phone in its first days like a lot of my friends have. When my OtterBox arrived, I opened it, and to my great surprise, it had both logo protection AND a built-in plastic screen protector! It snapped on pretty easily, but the gunmetal grey layer (silicone, I believe?) was a bit difficult to remove from the pink plastic layer at first. It's a great case and I have no regrets whatsoever about my purchase. So just stop, your search ends here. GET THIS CASE.
My only negative comment is that the screen protector is a bit thick and makes the screen slightly grainy, but I'll take this over the difficult manual installation of a screen protector any day!
Oh, and to all of you people out there who are complaining about how the OtterBox triples the size of the phone: the OtterBox is a case made for protection, not to show off the iPhone's tiny size.

I bought my husband an Otterbox Defender for his iPhone 4 when they first came out. It survived being run over by a pickup truck (both the phone AND the case survived), and we were sold. I replaced his at Christmas with the camo cover as the rubber port covers on his were finally wearing out, and he had broken the belt clip attachment (which he actually uses--I don't). He has been nothing but pleased with his, so when Otterbox finally released the updated version for iPhone 4s, I eagerly bought one. The previous Defender model (for iPhone 4 only) would not accomodate the white iPhone 4 because the screen-lock sensor was in a different spot, but they now have adjusted the cutout at the top to fix this issue (I think it's in the same spot for the 4s version now). So, yay, finally I can have one, too. Only mine has already cracked after only about one month...not even a whole month, actually. I just checked and it's been about two weeks. My phone mostly stays in my purse or on my desk, or on my nightstand. I don't know how it could've cracked, but the plastic piece next to the headphone port cracked, and then fell off. I have requested a replacement from Amazon. I am really hoping this was just a fluke and that the next case holds up better. At least Amazon has free returns and replacements.
