If you're looking for the Super-Safe, Uber Protection for your iPhone, this case is it. It even has a built in screen protector that is smooth and flawless. I use it when boating, at the beach or by the pool. No, it is NOT waterproof... but definitely splash resistant. My screen does not go into locked mode (black screen) when I am on a phone call. I'm constantly dialing random numbers, turning on speaker phone, etc.

If you're looking for the Super-Safe, Uber Protection for your iPhone, this case is it. It even has a built in screen protector that is smooth and flawless. I use it when boating, at the beach or by the pool. No, it is NOT waterproof... but definitely splash resistant. This case will protect your iPhone from drops, putting it in a purse, splashes and wet fingers/hands, etc. If you need extra protection this is the ideal case. It is sort of a puzzle to get on. So older hands may have a problem. Once on it stays there quite well... again, looks great too. Makes the phone larger, so if you'd like a larger phone in the hand feeling, this will help. Comes in many colors, visit the Otter Box web site then search Amazon for a specific color. Amazon has the best prices.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fits Verizon White iPhone 4, July 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Otterbox Universal iPhone 4 Defender Case (Hot Pink Silicone & White Plastic) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I received the pink and white case for my Verizon white iphone 4 yesterday. The case fits perfectly but I had an issue with the proximity sensor. Mine had a plastic covering with a vertical black strip over the proximity sensor. When I took the case off, the proximity sensor worked.

This is what I did to fix the problem:

I took the plastic covering off from the inside of the case.
Cut the part off that covered the proximity sensor.
Got a sharpie and outlined the inside of the case where the proximity sensor is.
Placed the plastic covering back on (to protect the front camera).
Placed the hard and silicone case back on the phone.
Made a call and put my finger over the proximity sensor, it worked, then I put the phone up to my ear and it worked!

I HIGHLY recommend this case to ALL iPhone 4 users. It's worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great for iphone 4s, November 30, 2011

This was on an Amazon lightening deal for a lot cheaper than Verizon sells them. I want to confirm for those looking to buy this for the 4s that it works fine! I have a white Verizon 4s and there are no problems. It doesn't block the sensor and while the silent key is not centered it doesn't restrict its use. I don't find it to be too bulky at all. Of course it adds some bulk to the phone but I don't really see a way around that and its definitely not prohibitive. The belt clip is ridiculously large but I don't have a need for that so I just left it off. I am very clutzy and have two small boys so I feel much better about having this on my phone.

This review is from: Otterbox Universal iPhone 4 Defender Case (Hot Pink Silicone & White Plastic) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
UPDATE (12/28/2011): I have been using this case now for almost 2 months straight. I thought I would come back here and update this review. After about a month the silicon case started getting loose. It does not fit securely anymore, there are little gaps around the front top corners of the case. Another thing I dislike is that the case gets very dirty easily on the INSIDE. I have found little specks on the inside of my screen that drive me crazy. It also draws dirt and fuzz into the ear speaker (since it is not covered at all). So I have to take the whole case apart and clean it. You would think for such a 'secure' case that something as small as a speck of fuzz would not be able to get inside. Another thing I have noticed with regular use is the flaps (mainly USB port) aren't very easy to close. To close the flap you have to use both hands to push and slide on it until it goes back into place. On a better note, I have dropped my phone 5+ times (and counting) and no damage done to my phone. Instead, the damage was to the case, it has a chip in it. I am thankful it was on the case and not my phone!

After dropping my old iPhone and breaking it, I knew I had to get an Otterbox. I was always skeptical about getting an Otterbox because I never liked the bulkiness, plus I didn't think the cases were cute. Better safe than sorry, right?

Once I recieve my case and put it on my phone, I was suprised that I liked it. The case is a nice hot pink (little darker than the stock pic), the white matches my white phone nicely. It is also very comfortable to hold after you get used to it, nice grip. I feel comfortable that my phone is safe in this case. The only thing I am worried about is that the speakers at the bottom, and the ear speaker have no kind of protection. That would not be good if I dropped it in water.

After reading some reviews on this page I was kind of worried that when I got the 4S that my silent switch would be covered. That was not the case. A tiny bit of the bottom is kind of covered but still totally accessible. If it is a problem, you could always use use the options under Settings.

For reference, I had the WHITE iPhone 4 (AT&T) and upgraded to the WHITE iPhone 4S (AT&T) and used the same case.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Case, Great Customer Service!, August 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Otterbox Universal iPhone 4 Defender Case (Hot Pink Silicone & White Plastic) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I bought this defender case for my black AT&T iPhone 4 yesterday on Amazon, and it arrived one day later. I opened the box and I was pleased with what I saw -- the pink and white case looks great! It was a bit tricky to figure out how to put it on the phone because there aren't any written instructions, just pictures. But I got it fine. The only thing I'm concerned about with this case is that the protective flap coverings for the headphone jack, silent mode switch, and charging port seem a little flimsy, like they might break eventually. But luckily Otterbox provides a one-year warranty, so any breakage in the year is covered.

I really love this case. I don't mind how bulky it is because I know that bulkiness goes toward protecting my phone. I feel like it's worth it to ensure that I don't have to pay full retail price for a replacement iPhone 4. $600 bucks for a phone? I don't think so. The black felt on the back of the inside plastic cover is a nice feature, and I know it will help to protect the glass back of my iPhone from getting scratched by the plastic.

I have yet to test the functionality of the camera and flash with the case on, but I can say that screen functionality with the plastic clear covering is excellent. I was frustrated to find NO reviews that talk about the screen cover's functionality (none that I could find, I'm sure they're out there somewhere...). Once the oils from your fingers get onto the screen cover, you can swipe around just as well as on your iPhone's screen.

One problem I had when I purchased this case is that my proximity sensor would NOT work when I made phone calls. The screen was on the entire time and my cheek could press buttons. SO, I called Otterbox Customer Service, and they told me that older iPhone 4 cases with white plastic had this problem. The whiteness inside the hole where the proximity sensor is exposed on the plastic case made the proximity sensor think that it was in the light, or something along those lines. Newer Otterbox Pink & White iPhone 4 Defender cases do NOT have this problem. Maybe that's why this seller's case is cheaper than the other sellers's? Not sure. But, it was an easy fix -- they ordered a replacement part with the newer inside front plastic case for me, and it should arrive in 10-14 days. I'm okay with that. I've also heard that you can color the inside of the proximity sensor hole with a black sharpie as a quicker solution.

Please note, if you don't like bulky cases, don't buy this case.

Pros:
-Pink & White looks fantastic
-Great Customer Service
-Felt on back to protect glass
-Feels sturdy in my hand
-Grippy enough silicone, but not annoyingly grippy
-Plastic screen cover works fantastically
-One-year warranty

Cons:
-Older iPhone 4 Defender Otterbox cases with white plastic may not work with proximity sensor
-Screen protector is a dust MAGNET.
-Flaps seem slightly flimsy
-Bulky

4.0 out of 5 stars How to fix the proximity sensor problem!, June 15, 2011

This review is from: Otterbox Universal iPhone 4 Defender Case (Hot Pink Silicone & White Plastic) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This case protects the iPhone very well. I have dropped it a few times and it is fine.

BUT, it blocks the proximity sensor so the screen doesn't lock when making a call. My cheek touches the screen and mutes/hangs up/tries to open face time/pushes keys while I'm on the phone. If you only use speakerphone or a headset, the case is great. Otherwise, don't buy it!

***EDITED - I found a way to make the proximity sensor work! You have to remove the plastic window that covers it. As soon as I did this, it works perfectly. Incidentally, on my husband's phone, there is no problem with the case blocking the sensor. I think it must only happen with some of them.

Still only four stars because the case is HUGE!

4.0 out of 5 stars OK with White iPhone 4s from Sprint with one small..., January 16, 2012

This review is from: Otterbox Universal iPhone 4 Defender Case (Hot Pink Silicone & White Plastic) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Purchased this Otterbox case for my daughter's White iPhone 4s from Sprint.
The case fits perfectly, none of the problems mentioned were encountered.

I believe Otterbox has solved the proximity sensor problem as there was a black mark down the middle of the sensor's protective sheet.
We tested the phone for the on/off action of the proximity sensor, and it worked fine without the need for us to do anything.

The only caveat has to do with the earphone jack. There's a pink flap which covers the jack, and it's wider than need be, but the hole is on the opposite side of the flap from where the jack is on my daughter's White 4s Sprint model. She's using it with the flap "up" while she decides whether we should make our own hole in the flap so she could use the headphones with the pink flap flat on the case as I'm sure it's meant to be. I recall that different companies phones had minor physical differences, and I'm guessing the placement of the jack is one of those. Otterbox designed the case with a flap wider than it need be be to probably be able to have the hole on one side for one company and on the other for another/s.

The case is quite impressive and looks as if it will protect the phone against most normal dings, etc. The Otterbox Defender sells for up to $50 in some shops, so this is a very good price.

After ordering this case from the Amazon Mobile site, I saw where it said it doesn't fit the 4S on the full site. I tried to cancel, but the order had already been shipped. I then read most of the reviews to try and see what the actual situation was with the 4s and especially the 4S in white. I'm now pleased the case arrived and hope this helps others with the uncertainty I had.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works just fine for the white iPhone 4!, September 29, 2011

This review is from: Otterbox Universal iPhone 4 Defender Case (Hot Pink Silicone & White Plastic) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I just got my first iPhone, a white Verizon 16G iPhone 4. The day I bought it I signed up for the $10.99 a month damage coverage, having seen many people with cracked iPhone screens. It's an expensive phone and I just knew I was going to be one of *those* people. Then my friend showed me her Otterbox Defender case.

In the process of trying to convince me to buy the case she literally THREW her phone at a concrete parking lot 6 times before I begged her to stop. It worked. I was completely sold on the product! Excited, I went online to find one that would look good with a white phone. To my dismay I see over and over I see "Not compatible with White iPhone 4".

I read several reviews here on Amazon where people equally said that the universal case did work, and that it didn't, because of the proximity sensor. But one person said just to cut the case where the sensor was and it would be fine. So I took the plunge and bought the pink/white Otterbox Defender case.

I can say that without having to do a thing it works just fine! No issues with the proximity sensor at all.

Looks great, still fits in my pocket, and is a like having a tank around my phone. The only thing I did notice is that when you shake the phone to change the direction the screen faces it doesn't always recognize the need to change because the case is shock resistant. Kinda of funny and ironic. This is in no way a negative, it just means it's doing its job.

Say goodbye to $10.99, and hello to cute, and super functional case!

I give it 5 stars and 2 thumbs up. To the makers of Otterbox "Thank you!" you're going to save me a lot of money and headache!

I bought this case for a Verizon iPhone 4 - It fits great! It adds a bit of bulk to the phone, but I find it a lot easier to type on now that I have more of an edge to grip.

Note: With this case, my screen does not go into locked mode (black screen) when I am on a phone call. I'm constantly dialing random numbers and scrolling through my contact list.
