Even if you have the skills you'll never sound like Ottmar Liebert,

This review is from: Ottmar Liebert - Nouveau Flamenco (Creative Concepts Publishing) (Paperback)
I am a long time fan of both traditional and modern flamenco, and to some extent of these more washed down "flamenco inspired" music as well. It is not the fault of the author of the book who by the way did an amazing job at transcribing all the solos. It is my fault in the sense that I did not realize that although Ottmar has some very catchy melodies, most of what makes his music sound complete are the synthezisers with all of those mystic, esotheric sounds, and also the percussion and bass. So I actually bought the book without having heard the record, had only heard a couple of songs and since I was looking for material to play with a guitarist friend I decided to buy it only to find out that this book doesn't sound that well as a guitar duet, which is what you'll find in the book, sometimes a third guitar part. So, unless you have a band that is willing to put the time to transcribe by ear the other parts and a synth full of all those cool sounds, don't buy the book because it will sound empty with just two guitars.
