A great big map with too little information,

This review is from: Ottoman Empire, The: History Map Series (Paperback)
This is a big, poster-sized map of the Ottoman Empire in approximately 1900, but it suffers from its inability to show the domains of the Empire as they fluctuated over time, the Ottomans gaining, losing, regaining and relosing hundreds of thousands of square miles at a time. There are some historical sidebars on the map's edges, but they are inadequate for the serious student. On the other hand, if you just want a big map of Anatolia and the Middle East and the Balkans c. 1900 because you're playing "Diplomacy" and want a real feel for your empire, or you are setting up a strategic-level war game, then this map is the thing to have. It's greatest advantage is its noting of smaller towns and cities usually ignored on Euro-American-made maps.
