5.0 out of 5 stars Melange of French Rock and Breton Traditional Music, April 4, 2000
This review is from: La Ouache (Audio CD)
I first heard Matmatah's 'La Ouache' when I was working in an Irish Bar in Caen, Normandie during 1998-1999. Since it was an Irish Bar, the manager wanted to play something with a traditional flavour to it, but since he couldn't speak any English he preferred to play Matmatah. The album is amazing. From the very first track right through to the end, the blend of Celtic inspiration with feisty guitars and drums is unbelievable. My favourite has to 'L'Apologie', a song about Marijuana, but 'Emma' also comes a close second.

I would recommend the album to anyone with an appreciation of solid indie music - an understanding of French would be useful, but not necessary. In short, go and buy it. Oh, and lads, when is the follow up album coming out?
