Madness is back with this incredible album. Honestly, if you only know them for the hits such as "Our House" or "Night Boat to Cairo," you are missing out. Each song off this album is its own little story. They are all very catchy, so expect yourself to be singing the title of the album after listening. Beyond that, Madness is following in the trend of many great pop groups from the 70s and 80s and reinventing their sound just enough to be modern while still being something of a throwback.
If you loved Madness then, you will still love them now. Particular highlights are "My Girl 2" which plays with a popular track of almost the same name, and "La Luna" which adds a nice Spanish flavor and an almost somber quality to the album. Also, don't miss "Death of a Rude Boy" which not only has a nice twist on the narrative aspects of the song, but also is incredibly addictive. This album is honestly worth the money in any form, particularly if you enjoy pop music that isn't of the Top 40 variety and actually has substance to it.

I used to listen to them when they first reared their head here in the States and I can still remember the day they announced that they were over. Not only is this CD wonderful, but they have managed to evolve and get better. I can't tell you how happy that makes me.

Well it's not exactly what I'm USED to but still has its catchy music all throughout! As far as I'm concerned there is no Death of a Rudeboy!

Sounds like the same Madness, but different. The energy and ska feel just isn't there anymore. But the music still gives me the happy feeling Madness has always provided. I like the album, don't get me wrong, but after the first three songs, I was skipping forward looking for a song like Baggy Trousers or something a little more upbeat. Still, I will enjoy the album and probably just play Madness on "mix all albums" on my mp3 to get a little of old-school and new. I would recommend if Madness is one of your fave's.

Thirty-five years after their current lineup fell into place, the British outfit known as "Madness" has released their tenth studio album with the agreeable title, "Oui, Oui, Si, Si, Ja, Ja, Da, Da," which is being distributed by Entertainment One and Eone Music.

The CD release features a wonderful album cover designed by the famous British pop artist, Sir Peter Blake, and contains fourteen new tracks, including the singles "Death of a Rude Boy" and "My Girl 2," a companion song to one of the band very first releases, "My Girl." Their lineup is tight, as the six members continue their fourth decade as the core of the "Madness" sound, with the instantly recognizable accent of vocalist Suggs taking us on a tour of another slew of characters that have established Madness as expert storytellers with the ability to cross over demographics, appealing to both old and young alike.

Known here in the States primarily for their 1983 smash, "Our House," Madness has continued to have a successful presence in its native country, and "Oui, Oui, Si, Si, Ja, Ja, Da, Da" follows up the group's 2009 release, "The Liberty of Norton Folgate," a love letter to the band's home area, the East End of London parish of Spitalfields.

On this new album, the tempos are comfortably established in the middle ground, ranging from the profound "Misery" to the Latin stylings of "La Luna El Mariachi," with occasional forays into the more familiar ska-based grooves of the title song and the more sly, hip swinging beats of "Powder Blue" and "Never Knew Your Name."

Madness is currently touring the UK, with plans to tour the U.S. in 2013 to support "Oui, Oui, Si, Si, Ja, Ja, Da, Da."

Most of us on the US side know Madness as one of the many terrific bands - including the Special, Selector, Fun Boy Three, English Beat - that came, brought joy and dancing in the form of ska/reggae, and then disappeared. At the time, roughly mid 1980s, Madness was not at the head of this class being more apolitical and dance oriented. But they never quit playing and growing over the years, continuing to perform regularly in the UK and elsewhere. But what is most remarkable is that they continued to develop the form of ska without throwing out the wild energy at its core. There is not a bad cut on this album which is entirely new material, tested through years of performance on the small club and festival circuit. There is just about no way this album can fail to bring joy to your day and it bears repeated playing due to the well constructed material. You can dance too.

The new release from Madness is excellent. It differs from Norton Folgate in that is a collection of songs rather than a theme album. However, it has some really strong songs on the cd.

I think My Girl 2 and Misery are the best tracks.

Hate the title and the cover...alas, no band photos,,,but a very good album. Bounces right along. Vocals are tight, harmonies are great and they have re-invented themselves. Hell, they are all over 50, at least. (This is way better than the dippy schtick they did at the London Olympics!) Sounds like they revisited the first album and upped the ante. Check it out!
