Well...,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Ouija Board: A Doorway to the Occult (Paperback)
This author seems to rely on secondhand accounts and the book seems more of an attack against non-Christians than anything else. Yes, this book is definitely written from a Christian viewpoint, and as such is a bit biased. It never even mentions the possibility that such activities may be beneficial, or that practitioners of such things as Wicca are genuinely happy. I personally know no one who has been possessed or driven to suicide because of the board. Read such books at your own discretion, but please keep an open mind; this is not the only view, or the only way.

I read the other reviews as well as the book. The book is well reasearched and uses stellar religious/theology scholars as well as academics in the field of parapsychology ans others. This is known as secondary research. Primary sources are possible but hard to come by, that is one would observe and report. There are many ethical issues in this. Secondary source research is perfectly acceptable in academia. Personally I would be unwilling to be present at let alone participate in a ouija board seance/reading. I would be one who did secondary research on this topic as well. The book is well written; well researched, and circumspect. It posits it is best not to open a door when you dont know what is on the other side. It gives some historical background; incorporates some theology; and discusess specific cases.

This book is a must read for anyone interested in buying or using a Ouija board. It tells of the dangers of using it and what is really behind it. I threw mine away when I saw what was involved with it.

The Dangers & Realities Exposed.,
By
This review is from: The Ouija Board: A Doorway to the Occult (Paperback)
This excellent book, based upon many years of study, provides a considerable amount of factual information surrounding the Ouija board, including it's history and it's connections with the occult. This extremely well written study describes how, what are cited as the uninformed and the naïve, are often drawn to the Ouija board as a game, toy or a source of innocent fun, whilst other individuals are seduced into using the Ouija board by promises that it will enable them to "explore their subconscious", to "communicate with the departed" or to "channel human/nonhuman spirit guides". The book cites using the Ouija board as being one of the most popular but least understood practices, whereby it's seemingly harmless application (attitudes shown to be sadly prevalent amongst even some `Church' leaders & `Christian' parents) often pursued in hilarity, rapidly descends into what are depicted as a web of deception and demonic activity which can entrap and dominate the participants amidst forces of which they have little if any understanding. The reader is shown how that "communications" obtained through using the Ouija board often start under the guise of being provided with "spiritual" or personal information. Incidents where the "contacts" often seem benign or benevolent , even offering "correct" information about individual persons, together with detail relating to past incidents & even some predictions relating to the future. However, these are shown to then develop a hold over the operators which can rapidly deteriorate into frightening, vile and dangerous experiences. The study pulls no punches in outlining that the "supernatural phenomena" associated with the Ouija board are not manifestations of departed spirits (as some would claim) but proceeds to describe what the Holy Bible unequivocally states on the matter, with all human spirits having an immediate destination (heaven or hades). The book further specifying that any "communication" with the supernatural realm obtained through using the Ouija board is with demonic entities, although the messages received will rarely reveal evidence of their demonic origin. Deception being cited here as at the heart of demonic operation in order to gain allegiance and manipulate the individuals concerned. Reference also being made to the Biblical clarity of all evil spirits being demonic entities who serve the devil and his realm. Entities cities as having depraved and evil natures who affect their victims mentally, morally, physically and spiritually through demonic intrusion into a user's personality. Cases are cited here which show how many have experienced what are described as the invasion of their minds by thoughts & feelings so foreign to the own nature's as to cause them great concern, distress and even panic. The reader is shown through numerous examples how any "messages" received will seldom reveal the vileness of their demonic source with many even sounding "moralistic" and "impressive". However the book reveals that all the sources will ignore or undermine the unique claims of Biblical Christianity and the redeeming work of Jesus Christ & His sacrificial death for sin and the atoning of His blood on the cross. Through reference to many cases, much of the information acquired through the Ouija board is shown to be unknown to the operators of the board & often at a level and degree far beyond the normal capacity of the individuals concerned. Sometimes provided even in languages unknown to anyone present. One such example cited shows where school staff /students involved in seances asked a specific question following which the Ouija board itself was picked up into the air by an unseen "force" and torn completely in half, whilst a cupboard nearby was knocked over. Many such incidents are shown which can only relate to the presence and activity of an intelligent disincarnate energy. Examples cited include those where room temperatures suddenly and inexplicably droppedsome 20 degrees, accompanied by gusts of `wind' blowing books from shelves & pictures off walls whilst all doors and windows were firmly shut. Objects used on the Ouija board also moving around without contact or other physical influence. This entire subject is approached from a Christian viewpoint where such participation is spiritually unhealthy/dangerous because of the perils of occult entrapment. An entire section being devoted to the Biblical view of demons, demonic activity. The book outlining the numerous, detailed Biblical references to the various kinds of divination and occult practices to which the Oujia board is shown to have a direct connection. Many of these are outlined in the Old Testament books of Deuteronomy ch.18 and Leviticus ch.19 & ch.20. Importantly, tbook also illustrates how a person entrapped in the occult through the Ouija board can experience deliverance through the authority and power of Jesus Christ as outlined in the Holy Bible. Having made the mistake in my youth of becoming involved in the occult through an initially innocent practice of the Ouija board & having seen the disastrous consequences that can result, I can only highly recommend this study to all readers. Through the Grace of God I was able to renounce and utterly repent of this involvement. However, it left me with the distinct awareness of the realities and dangers associated with the subject which are commendably covered in this study.

The Best Book About the Ouija Board,
By

This review is from: The Ouija Board: A Doorway to the Occult (Paperback)
This book is by far the best book written, that I am aware of, concerning that dangerous thing called the Ouija Board. I wish I had read this book before ever using the devilish thing, it would have saved me a lot of trouble. Gruss, who obviously did a good job researching the so-called game carefully documents the dangers of using a Ouija board for any reason. Unlike the misguided book by Stoker Hunt, Gruss' book doesn't instruct the reader on how to use a Ouija board. Information from Gruss' book can be found all over the internet. He details the hstory and gives some case studies and the dangers and consequences of using a Ouija board. Researchers in the field of Spiriyual Warfare corroborate what Mr. Gruss states in his book. The Ouija Board is a dangerous occult device that can cause the users spiritual problems that can not be resolved without a good dose of Christianity. I couldn't help but notice some of the negative reviews written here. It is obvious that many of these so-called reviewers are New agers and occult practitioners. I am started to get annoyed at the anti-Christian sentiment of many of the writers and reviewers here on Amazon which is mainly coming from occultists and atheists. One insisted that this book was biased because he claimed that the book has a Christian bent. Unfortunately, for people who get problems after using a Ouija board the only cure seems to be through the Christian religion. This belief has been supported over and over again through paranormal researchers, deliverance ministries and the Roman Catholic rite of Exorcism.

The TRUTH About the Ouija Board!!!!,
By
This review is from: The Ouija Board: A Doorway to the Occult (Paperback)
First of all let me say that I respect all the personal views and opinions of using the Ouija Board but I must say that there are other Books written that describe a totally positive experience. The Board does operate from the Spirit World but that world is not full of DEMONS like many Religious people think because before we existed in Human form we all were a part of the the Spirit World in fact we are Spirits in Human Bodies when we die that Spirit leaves the body but it does not turn into a Demon.I am an experienced user of Tarot Cards,Numerology,Astrology and Ouija Boards and I have never had a NEGATIVE experience or contacted any DEMONS or been possesed. The information that I received was 100% accurate when using these Divination Tools the term Divination comes from other terms like Divinity an Divine Intervention which are used in the Bible and are not considered WRONG but it's funny how DIVINATION is when it involves spirit contact.Contacting Spirits is no more dangerous that walking out your front door if your intentions are BAD not clear or full of fear or inexperience than that's what you will bring upon yourself. If you know what your doing and TRULY understand the SUPERNATURAL and SPIRIT world then your experience will be POSITIVE like mine were.I was contacted by the Spirit of my son before he was born when me and my girlfriend at the time (which became my wife) were on the board with her mother. We were told that he would come into our life in 2yrs and the exact time and date was given. This happen in 1991 he was born in 1993 today he is a Healthy 12 yrd old that doesn't spit Green vomit or make his head spin around or look like Damien from the Omen.He even attends Church on occasion
I have also used Tarot Cards with great results in 1998 my cousin was pregnant but did not know who the father was between 2 possible men the cards revealed the Birth Sign of the Father which was accurate and also indicated that the Child would not be born.I assumed it meant the child would be still-born but what happen was she had an ABORTION.Others experience of NEGATIVITY or DEMONS is not the final TRUTH of what everyone else will experience just like we all don't respond to Medicine developed to cure certain diseases. Some are cured and some aren't some say a particular Drug works while others say it doesn't.This pretty much applies to many things in life some like it some don't some say it works some say it doesn't.Just because something went wrong for you does not mean this will happen to everyone.I know of a guy that actually WON the Lottery using the Ouija Board so I seriously doubt that any DEMONS would be so KIND as to give someone winning Lottery numbers.

LIGHTEN UP -- IT'S JUST A GAME,
By Lizbeth Savage (San Francisco CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Ouija Board: A Doorway to the Occult (Paperback)
Lighten up -- it's just a game.
The pointer moves to letters in response to the players' conscious or subconsious need to see something interesting happen in the game. It's called the ideomotor effect. Ouija Board is simply a doorway to entertainment; no more "occult" than poker or tiddley-winks, a lot less insidious than television. This book is an opinion piece, and not a very well written one at that.

Ouija is a false god,

This review is from: The Ouija Board: A Doorway to the Occult (Paperback)
My roomates use the Ouija all the time, frequently under the influence. It is in fact a false idol, a false god. This book tells the truth behind this strange creation, one so proposterous that one would laugh if ti was described to them but a game that seems to take many under its spell.Seth J. Frantzman

good stuff !!,
By David Cadieux (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Ouija Board: A Doorway to the Occult (Paperback)
Happy to see (read)some one who is willing to consider the right and wrong of something. Today's age of spiritism is greatly pursuing how to do many things but seldom considers that "because we can" does not mean "we should". Christianity (rooted in Judaism, the oldest faith in existence) has always warned of the dangers of turning to occultism for truth instead of the "father of truth" God. This book explains why christianity is concerned for all those who use ouija boards to explore the spiritism so common in today's culture.
