4.0 out of 5 stars A classic standard, July 29, 2004

This book is well regarded in the Ouija field. You hear it mentioned time and time again.I found the first half exciting and I lost myself in it. The stories recounted in here about peoples experiences with Ouija are fascinating. The second half was more technical, but still informative.
Mr. Hunt did present a balanced view. He interviewed experts both pro and con. He presented both good and bad experiences.
He also included a section at the end about how to start using the Ouija if you are interested.
If you want to start researching Ouija, start here.I think the reason this book does remain such a classic in the field is that its is very well researched and extremely balanced. It has no agenda except fully presenting both sides and letting people decide for themselves on the information presented

5.0 out of 5 stars The Essential Ouija Guide!, January 22, 2003
By
Will Watts (Exeter, Devon United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ouija: The Most Dangerous Game (Paperback)
This book is a must-read for anyone interested in using / researching the Ouija board. Covering all aspects of ouija (history, pro & anti-ouija perspectives, psychological theories, case studies), Stoker Hunt presents an objecive, concise study of probably the most dangerous item to ever be marketed as a 'game'. Hunt himself seems to have no particular opinion on whether the board is harmful or helpful, nor does he appear to have had any first-hand experience; however this does not detract from the overall effect at all - the information he has collated from a variety of sources ultimately invites the reader to make up his or her own mind. From a personal point of view, it was gratifying to read the documentation of a 'discussion' between Hunt & a spirit (communicating through a medium), as it verifies much that I have learnt through my own communications. Conversely it was frightening to read accounts of situations where using the ouija board resulted in less-than-pleasant scenarios, & it is these accounts that made me realise how lucky I was not to experience similar things when I was new to ouija & naive. I think the overall message is very apt: whether you believe ouija connects you to 'the other side', whether you think it expresses our own unconcious thoughts, or whether you think it's all rubbish, DO NOT APPROACH IT LIGHTLY!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very intriguing book!, December 29, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Ouija: The Most Dangerous Game (Paperback)
I could not put this book down. I read through the entire book in one sitting. It's amazing how the book takes on 3 major points of views - the positive/believer aspect, negative/non-believer aspect, and scientific aspect. The stories were very interesting and a lot of the information the book provided really made me wonder about the dangers of the game. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who is even mildly intersted in the Ouija board!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Sense., July 9, 2001

I had started a collection of Ouija Boards because I thought it would be a unique and fun hobby. After reading this book, I quickly changed my mind and left what I had purchased unopened! I had fun reading this book, it scared me at times and made me think even more about the unknown. Although it gives you good advice if are are to use the Ouija I used my own "good sense" and chose not to. This is a GREAT BOOK for anyone interested in knowing more about the "Mystifying Oracle".

4.0 out of 5 stars Beware!! The board may be more dangerous than you think!!, August 21, 1998

This review is from: Ouija: The Most Dangerous Game (Paperback)
A good, yet frightening account of the intriguing Ouija board. It may scare you away from using it - especially if you're alone. A good read and very imformative. But I never stopped using the board even with the forewarning from the book. But the weak of heart may......

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the scariest books that I have ever read!, October 29, 2002
This review is from: Ouija: The Most Dangerous Game (Paperback)
This book was not only scary, it was historical as well! The ouija dates back to early Eyptain days when pharohs used the board to ask questions about kings. There are also some present day stories that are really scary. If you have ever played the ouija and wondered if the stories you hear actually have happend, the you should buy this book! This is literally one of the scariest books that I have ever read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Frightening, informative, and so very true., September 24, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Ouija: The Most Dangerous Game (Paperback)
The book echoed some of the innermost thoughts and feelings that I had while using the Ouija. It scared me, but also made me think twice about what using the board means, and the responsibility that comes along with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST READ!, September 2, 2000
This review is from: Ouija: The Most Dangerous Game (Paperback)
This is by far the best book on the imfamous Ouija boards! It actuallly scared me away from using the board at times, but when I'm with other people, I use the warnings and suggestions provided by the book. It gives detailed accounts of possesion and other "happenings" associated with the board! A MUST READ for anyone with an interest in the Ouija boards or Possesion.

4.0 out of 5 stars most dangerous game is most interesting read, January 15, 2001

Wow! A rollercoaster of emotions ran through me as I read this book. I was seriously frightened at times by particular interviews. Thankfully this is an unbiased and well researched, collective work with many views of this all-around "creepy" kids game. While I'm not going to bury my board 18" underground and bless it with holy water, I will surely refrain from exposing myself to anything this potentially serious. All around great reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars "The Board!" Supernatual or Nervous Electricity?, May 5, 2004
By
This review is from: Ouija: The Most Dangerous Game (Paperback)
"OUIJA The Most Dangerous Game" takes you on a mental experience you will not only find enlightening but intriguing!
Maybe there's really something to not allowing this "game" into the house, or is there? The author allows you to decide.
After I read Jerry D. Coleman's "Strange Highways" where he told of witnesses, story's and events with an Ouija Board, I wanted to seek out further information as to what made "The Board" tic, Author Mr. Stoker Hunt supplied it.
Weird is the fact that one of Mr. Colemans Ouija story's is called "Hunt Street", coincidence ?
Great read Mr. Hunt !
