Format: Hardcover
This book is enjoyable enough. It really shines when the family is telling stories about her directly as in their direct interactions with her, words said, situations that happened, wisdom imparted etc. It really allows the reader to see who Rosa Parks was outside of her public persona.

This book gets a star deducted because there are a lot of what seem to be filler opinions from the family and its becomes redundant and just seems like something we could get anywhere or ask anyones opinion of Rosa Parks. There is a lot of she was calming spirit, she was great, she had decorum, she was strong and forgiving but after a few people in the family say the same thing we dont really need to hear more. Also, I feel as if others who had the pleasure of interacting with Ms. Parks would have the same wonderful things to say about her. It doesnt take away from the book per se but again this book really shines from the FAMILY'S PERSPECTIVE on their direct interactions with her, the rest is just unnecessary after a while. I could see where there were trying to tie these into direct stories but it just didnt flow like that for me. This book is to get to know Mrs Parks from her personal life in my opinion and general opinions that I feel anyone would, could and probably do have about her is nothing new.

Another minor issue I have with the book is that while Rosa Parks had no children she had about 13 nieces and nephews and they all had kids of course and these are their perspectives. But there are sooooo many people it would have been nice to know who was talking beforehand. One story just flows into another completely different story with just a subheading to know you are switching stories and then at the end tells you who is telling this particular story.
