Format: Hardcover
For a cat breeder, or those just interested in the origin of the cat breeds this is THE book to own. It marks the point in time when cats started to move from a poorly understood, often abused animal to the family pet we know today.

Everyone who loves cats should know about this man, his work and this book.

Written in a style only the Victorian English could do so well, it is a time machine to another time, another place and another view of the world.

It's also about cats!

Mike

I am THRILLED to see this book back in publication!! Harrison Weir is the highly revered Father of the Cat Fancy. In the original edition of this book he became the first person to ever develop and publish standards for the breeds. All cat associations worldwide, and lovers of any particular breed, owe a great debt of gratitude to this man and his wonderful book. For those of you who don't own one of the ten author's copies of the original edition of this book (sorry, had to brag<G>), do not pass up on the opportunity to get it in this reprint. The originals are very rare. I have bought the reprint just to have at shows and to recommend to new exhibitors so that they understand the history of our hobby.

You don't have to show cats to appreciate this book though. It is a wonderful read for anyone who loves cats, especially those who appreciate the Victorians and their love of cats.
