The title says it all: our choices determine the earth’s future, and in this young readers’ edition of his similarly titled adult book, Gore speaks straight to the generation that will tackle those decisions. As in his young readers’ edition of An Inconvenient Truth (2007), Gore once again presents a holistic call for action: “We have to change our laws, we have to change the way we do business, and we have to change the way we think.” Gore points to the integral role of youth in the civil-rights movement and challenges his young audience to act on a similar scale, raise awareness of environmental issues, and demand that current lawmakers and executives adopt dramatic, earth-friendly practices. As in the adult edition, the substantive chapters are filled with color photos and diagrams that illustrate the cogent, persuasive text. As in An Inconvenient Truth, the lack of source notes is disappointing. Still, the passionate, informed coverage of environmental issues, from alternative fuel technologies to political obstacles in Washington, makes this an invaluable resource for school and public libraries. More About the Author

Former Vice President Al Gore is currently the chairman of both
Current TV and Generational Investment Management. He was elected to the
U.S. House of Representatives in 1976 and the U.S. Senate in 1984 and 1990,
and served eight years as vice president of the United States, from 1993 to
2000. He is the author of the 1992 bestseller Earth in the Balance:
Ecology and the Human Spirit. He lives with his wife, Tipper, in
Nashville, Tennessee.

I mistakenly purchased this young reader's edition after blindly accepting it from the Border's clerk, who had not heard of VP Al Gore! This book is not as haunting as An Inconvenient Truth, which was a wake-up call. This one is the action plan. The brilliance of VP Gore's prose lies in the simplicity of the language. The language is upper grade school level, but the concept is boundless. The concept of global warming and its potential solutions can be so abstract when explained by most pedantic university professors. However Gore lays it out as if we could attack the problem foot forward, which is exactly what we have to during this administration

This is a Fantastic Read for young kids. Our daughter read it and really got it. It's Clear and concise. This should be required reading, IMO.

As you can see, I screwed up! Other than it taking a longgggg time to receive - it was ordered about two weeks before Christmas, did not get it until a week after Xmas, my friend is enjoying it - he jokes he thinks in retrospect that the "adult" version would not have been as easy to understand!!
