Book Description

August 2003
The moon is more than just a rock. Our Creator has perfectly and purposely planned it and placed it. Nothing has been left to chance. ? A wonderful study of our nearest neighbor ? Written for the layman in an easy-to-understand format ? Illustrations and explanatory charts included ? The moon has taken the impact of meteors that would have hit Earth. On the moon, there are 200,000 identified craters. On Earth, there are 200. We've seen the moon almost every day of our lives. We are so accustomed to its being there, that we sometimes take it for granted. God created the moon on the fourth day to be more than a conversation starter. Think about the following: The moon is the perfect size to reflect sunlight to the earth, allowing for a soft night-light. Without the moon, our seasons would be severe and unpredictable. Tides caused by the moon are essential for the health of the oceans. The life cycles of many animals follow the phases of the moon. The moon acts as a shield, attracting space rocks that would otherwise hit the earth. These are just a few provisions that are supplied by the moon. Our Created Moon is not just a little collection of trivia, but provides thoughtful and complete, factual explanations about Earth's closest neighbor. Well-known creation scientists Don DeYoung and John Whitcomb share their knowledge in an easy-to-comprehend format.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!, March 12, 2008
I love this little book. Its authors not only told me everything I've ever wondered about the moon and then some; they also put this information into biblical perspective, so that for me its primary take-away is just this: "What an awesome God we have!"

5.0 out of 5 stars Even our little Moon shows the Power and Wisdom of God, December 17, 2010
Even our little moon shows the Power and Wisdom of God. What we have learned about the universe in just the past 40 years is incredible. I read that our knowledge of the universe in the past 40 years has increased 100 fold. But you don't have to go very far from earth to be amazed at God and his handiwork. The details and the workings of the moon are fascinating.

This is a very enjoyable book. Even if you don't know a lot about science or have a strong science background to learn from this book. I like the way the authors have presented this material in 62 interesting questions. You can jump in at any point of the book and start learning.

People talk about the "dark" side of the moon. But that is a misconception. The side that is a away from the sun is the dark side. The dark side of the moon is always moving and changing. What they really mean is the "back" side of the moon. That is the side that we never see from earth. The first people to see the back side of the moon were the Russians.

This book is full of interesting facts about the moon and the way that God made it. The earth benefits in many ways from the moon's presence and gravity. I like the fact that the authors believe in a 6 day creation and give full credit to God and His Power and Majesty.

This book would be great for people of just about any age. I would think that starting in 6th grade, kids could start reading this book and learn. The more you already know, the more you will enjoy this book. If there is this much to know about the moon and how God planned it, just think about how much there is learn about the rest of the universe.
