There just wasn't a good explanation of this collection, so here it is. you get ONE disc (Greatest Hits)of actual full-length episodes;
1)Shrimps For A Day
2)Fly Me Kite
3) Hi Neighbor
4) Beginner's Luck
5) Kid From Borneo

They look great - very clean. Very happy with that disc. The Other three are mixed baskets. "The Our Gang Story" is a documentary on the Rascals, and is very interesting...once. Lots of fun facts, along with footage. Did you know that Alfalfa was in "It's A Wonderful Life"? neither did I.

"Our Gang Comedy Festival" is bits from different shorts. Fun, but, not complete episodes.
Little Rascals Varieties" is interesting in that it's a compilation by Hal Roach that was released to theaters in the '50's of old shows where the kids put on a musical show. Again, fun, but not full episodes.
There's alot of duplication in these - I bought it for next to nothing, so I'm not really upset, just wish it was all full episodes. It definitely has whet my appetite for more, full length films.
So I wouldn't recommend it unless you get it CHEAP (mine was $6)and just wanna see some Rascals once and put it away.

Despite indications including the package saying these are silent comedies, these are not silent and neither Joe Cobb or Mary Kornman appear in any feature included. The films included are "Our Gang Follies of 1938" (starring Spanky and Alfalfa)and "Bear Shooters" and "School's Out" both from 1930 (the Jackie Cooper period). While they are not what one would expect based on what is on the package, they are all enjoyable, especially "School's Out" which was the second appearance of Miss Crabtree. It's inclusion almost gets the tape five stars despite the misleading information.

Interesting set put out by GOODTIMES video. This company is known for trying to release DVDs as cheaply as possible and I think they did it with this one as well. Some good shorts here on the set, but by no means are they in chronological order or remastered. I kept this for awhile until I found the Cabin Fever set, much better on those. The disc I did find wonderful to watch and kept was the "OUR GANG STORY". Lots of interesting facts about the most popular kids on the show from the early episodes in 1922 on to Robert Blake as "Mickey". I wrote down who, how many episodes they were in, and when they passed away ~

"Sunshine" Sammy Morrison 28 film shorts, Died 1989
Jackie Condon 78 film shorts, Died 1977
Mickey Daniels 52 film shorts, Died 1970 (apparently he was a drunk, died alone and his body was not claimed for several years.)
"Farina" Alan C. Hoskins 105 film shorts, Died 1980 (Had the most films by any member of the "Gang", Spanky would come close with 95.)
Joe Cobb 86 film shorts, Died 2002
Robert McGowan, Director, Died 1955
Jackie Cooper 15 film shorts, Died 2011 (One of THE most popular of the series and went on to a successful career in TV and Film.)
Pete The Original Dog, MANY films, Died 1930 (Apparently by poison)
Bobby "Weezer" Hodgens 45 film shorts, Died 1945 (Airplane crash while in Military)
June Marlow "Mrs. Crabtree", several shorts, Died 1984
Norman "Chubby" Chaney, 18 film shorts, Died 1936 (health problems due to weight)
Matthew "Stymie" Beard, 30 film shorts, Died 1981 (health problems due to drugs earlier in life)
Mary Ann Jackson, 32 film shorts, Died 2003

The price on this set was great, and I thought it was a wonderful deal at first. However, this dvd set has not been re-mastered at all- movie quality is worse than I remember Little Rascals beings. Also, over half the episodes are more of a "history of little" rascals with commentary as opposed to the DVDs that contain only episodes. Out of 4 DVDs, I think only one (poss two) have Little Rascals Episodes on them (as opposed to the "documentary" of "Our Gang." I was disappointed. Next time, I'll spend the extra money to get more episodes.
