Live....,

This review is from: Our Lady Peace - Live (Audio CD)
This CD is great because not only does it show how exciting it is at an OLP concert, you get a few songs from each CD, plus new ones. Before the track listing thing, the only thing I can complain about this (and it's not too important, either) is Raine Maida's speed with the vocals on this CD. They're a bit faster than normal, but it's all good.1. All For You- This wasn't the best on the album, far from it, but it was good. I like how Steve Mazur does little things with his guitar before the song starts, don't know why. 2. Superman's Dead- One of the best tracks on the album. Sounds close to the studio, but the intro was strummed a bit differently. This was one of OLP's songs that had whacky chords (as was typical in the days of Mike Turner)....Raine involves the crowd in the singing of the "Doesn't anybody ever know?" and it was kinda neat. 3. Not Enough- This was exceptional, kind of hard to understand in one of the parts, but it was okay. 4. Naveed/Life- This was great (I really love the song Naveed). the intro to Naveed was like two and a half minutes long, then the song started, and then it switched to Life, the long track off Spiritual Machines. Then it switched back, all in one like eleven and a half minute song. 5. Innocent- Great quality. The "We are, we are all innocent" part was carried on by the fans for awhile, and it was nice. Jeremy really has an important drum part in this song, even more so than usual. 6. Bring Back the Sun- A slow and meaingful song, it sounds great live. Pretty close to studio version, save the cheers and stuff. 7. One Man Army- It's hard to not like One Man Army, and it still has it's original effort put into it to make it sound wonderful. It was kind of short, though. 8. Is Anybody Home- A real amazing song....the fans are involved in this one, and when they get to the heavier part with the weird sounds for vocals, it sounds real neat. 9. Our Time is Fading- A new track from OLP, and it carries on with the Gravity sound. It may be the heaviest OLP song yet, can't wait until studio version. 10. Are You Sad- This opens with Raine telling the crowd about the theme of the song, and then they carry it out for a long time, I think like eight minutes. 11. Whatever- A great song, kinda like the Gravity sound, I love the instrumentation. It varies from Our Time is Fading, but is still that style. I think this song has a keyboard effect which helps it sound really great. 12. Clumsy- Nice live version of the title track of the album Clumsy (duh). The solo is choppy as it's supposed to be, and this track shows Steve Mazur can play like Mike Turner. 13. Starseed- A pretty long track, and it's wonderfully played. the distortion on the guitar made it a bit heavier than it was on Naveed, but it's all cool. 14. Somewhere Out There- Sounds great live, even without the studio effects. The fans get to do the cool yelling part ("I know you're out there, somewhere out there!").

The best live albumn I have yet encountered,
This review is from: Our Lady Peace - Live (Audio CD)
I think that if you want to truly know the talent of a band, you need to hear them live. And Our Lady Peace passes that test. Being an avid OLP fan, I have to warn you I am a little biased, but I will try to be honest. So here goes.1. All For You- While this is one of my favorite songs in studio, it isn't quite as good live. Raine goes a little quicker with his vocals, and it doesn't have the same effect. All the same, it's a great intro to the albumn. 2. Superman's Dead- Nice, simple, acoustic sounding beginning- just a few chord strums before heading into the song. I like how he pauses and talks the audience into singing, "Doesn't anybody ever know that the world's a subway?". 3. Not Enough- Excellent song, heavier on this albumn. 4. Naveed/Life- I love the intro to Naveed, and they drag it out here. It's a nice combination of the two songs. 5. Innocent- Surprising beginning, very good. 6. Bring Back the Sun- This is not an extraordinary song, in studio or here, but I never skip it. It's just a different sound- mellower, muter, and beautiful. Not extraordinary, but still great. 7. One Man Army- This is such an invigorating song. 8. Is Anybody Home?- Not that different from the studio version, but of course that's not bad. 9. Our Time Is Fading- I'm anxious to hear the recorded version, because I think that the guitar got a little muffled and doesn't sound as good as it could. The chorus is awesome though. 10. Are You Sad?- I never really appreciated this song until I heard Raine talk about it on this albumn. I think we have all wanted to help someone in this sort of situation, or been that person who has needed the help. 11. Whatever- This is the first time I heard this song, and I am pleased with it. It has a different sound to it, kind of like "Our Time is Fading". 12. Clumsy- Of course, a classic OLP encouragement song. 13. Starseed- This song just excells compared to its recorded version. The musicality is genius, it's gives you a rush of adrenaline everytime Raine screams, "Yeah yeah yea-ee!". But the best part is before the song actually starts. He's singing, "It's my way out" over and over, like he's trying to convince himself. But my favorite part on this CD, on any CD is around 1 minute 42 seconds when he yells. It gave me shivers about the first eight times I heard it. 14. Somewhere Out There- Ah, of course. That summer hit that everyone loves, no matter how elitist you are. This a soft, pretty song, and it sounds just as great live as recorded. Well, there you go. Buy it.

Our Lady Peace does it again,

As a loyal OLP fan, I own all 5 previous CDs and have been to a few shows. This is a band who is truly awesome live, and Raine Maidia sounds just as great without a recording stuido, unlike so many of today's popular artists. The band never misses a note, either. The CD really lets you imagine yourself at the show, because there is a lot of crowd involvement. It also includes most of their big hits (there are so many after all these years, it's hard to fit them all on) and the combination of Naveed and Life is really good.Any Our Lady Peace fan would love this CD. If you don't own any of their previous CDs, I would reccomend buying them first to get a feel for the music (which i am sure you will love). This is the kind of CD you can listen to over and over and not get bored of

i wish 4am and hope were on the playlist, but nonetheless, the way they performed the songs were awesome. the mix could have been better that's why it doesn't get the full 5 stars.I was impressed w/ the new song our time is fading. i also think it's cool they put whatever on there. that's wwe star chris benoit's theme song in case you didn't know. the naveed/life combo was also good. i'd never have thought that they could put something like that together and make it work. overall, our lady peace did a fine job in this live album, just sucks that it probably could have sounded better if properly mixed right. oh well, what can you do.

Our Lady Peave live is an experience in of itself, and I hoped that the CD CD would capture the depth and intensity of many of their shows. Unfortunately, the songs on the CD, otherwise well-chosen and performed, sound muddled and uninspired. Steve Mazur is a great guitarist and addition to the band, no doubt, but his tone rarely rises above the general noise of the drums, bass, and audience. Some of OLP's best songs, such as "Starseed" and "One Man Army" don't rise to the level that they often do during the shows. In fact, I found the version of "Starseed" on this album so bland and lacking in intensity that I would rate it as one of the worst possible choices for the album. I was also dissapointed that "4am", which is often one of their most compelling songs live, was not included on the CD. I love OLP, and I have enjoyed their live shows. Unfortunately, I think to pass the time between "Gravity" and their next possible album, they put out a live album that cheats the band of most of its power. The guy who mixed this should be fired.

OLP at their best - in concert,

I love the intensity of Our Lady Peace in a live performance. Don't be deterred by some people's disappointment at a lack of some hits on the CD. A disc can only hold about 120 minutes of music, and this disc has 117 minutes of music, so it's difficult to complain.I'm not generally into live albums, because most bands and singers don't sound as good live as in the studio. But last year I went to see an OLP concert, since they're my favorite band. I was amazed to realize that OLP is even better live (I didn't think it was possible for them to be any better). So, in short, buy this CD, because you will not regret it.

I've waited so long for this,

As a long time fan of OLP, I've been wanting them to release a live CD for years. If you've seen one of their shows, you'll know they're at their best when on stage. This CD captures that perfectly!! Included in the CD are a good mix of hits and rarer songs to please everyone from the casual fan to the die hard. They've done a beautiful job mixing together the songs Naveed and Life (if you like U2 you'll love this version, I half expected them to break into "Pride"). New lyrics were added to Is Anybody Home (different at each show) and the intro to Starseed is absolutely amazing!! Bring Back the Sun is incredible! I just can't say enough good things about this CD. Even if you have every studio release, buy this as well, you won't be disappointed. It is NOT just the same songs all over again! You haven't heard OLP until you've heard them live. The only thing I wish is that they would have included the song "Do you like it". It was always played after "All for you" on this tour with no break between the two songs. I got so used to hearing the two together that it's strange to have one missing. (If you've seen enough shows that you would notice this, and that it would annoy you, then I'm sure you already have this CD!).

If you're an Our Lady Peace fan, you MUST GET THIS CD. For a person like me who has been a fan for a few years but never seen them in concert, this is the closest thing to being at an OLP concert as it gets(that is until the dvd comes out)and it rocks. Though the live dvd doesn't come out until sometime in august, this live cd should whet your appetite for OLP until the dvd does come out.

A decent live disc,

This long-awaited live release from Canadian sensation Our Lady Peace is finally here. After waiting anxiously for several weeks, I picked up my copy the day before its official release date. I've listened to it twice, all the way through, and I am quite impressed. There are better live albums out there, but this album is definitely a must for any OLP fan. It captures the feeling of seeing a live show rather well, and includes an (until now) unreleased track titled "Our Time is Fading." For those of you who have been awaiting this album's release, you may buy with confidence; however, if you are new to the OLP scene, I recommend starting with some of the better-known albums such as Clumsy and Gravity, since those albums paint a more accurate picture of the band's style and musical talent.

alright for casual fans, not enough for long time OLP listeners,

This review is from: Our Lady Peace - Live (Audio CD)
this live cd was alright but didn't meet my expectations, production value was decent, could've been better with a broader selection of tracks. OLP has enough good material to merit a double disk live collection, something that would demand a lot of replay. Many of the performances on this record didn't really reflect the true value of their live act. There is enough singles for casual fans, most people remeber the recent and older hits from the nineties, but for the long time listeners the album just lacks something important.
