4.0 out of 5 stars A typical Olsen-twin movie, but loads of fun
Well whaddaya know.

Another Olsen twin movie that's like....well...an Olsen twin movie. But nevertheless, it's still fun.

Through time, I've developed a strong liking to this movie. It's in my top 5 Olsen movies. I don't know why I gave it a so-so review back in 2000. I guess it has really grown on me the past few years.

4.0 out of 5 stars A typical Olsen-twin movie, but loads of fun, November 20, 2000
Well whaddaya know.

Another Olsen twin movie that's like....well...an Olsen twin movie. But nevertheless, it's still fun.

The main story involves the twins facing the new high school like any other teenagers, but a series of events leads to trouble, and before they know it, the girls who're supposed to face high school instead face the Witness Protection Program after facing a criminal. So off they go to Australia...where they, you guessed it, have lots of fun along the way. There's not much to say about the story, seriously. The main focus seems to be fun, fun, and, you guessed it, fun.

The story line is kind of second rate, and the script leaves much to the imagination, but any negative points are countered by the wonderful acting of the spiritful twins. Mind you, they're not the greatest actors, but they're excellent for their age. With lots of boys and cute teen clothes, this will definitely become a hit among the pre-teen and early teen crowd. But whatever else, it's loads of fun for the whole family. Yes, that's right. Even the parents and older teens can watch it, since it IS funny in parts. Some jokes are lame, but the rest of it will have you laughing. A recommended movie for those who like mindless fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Cute, January 1, 2001
I liked this movie. I'm 13 and I just love Mary-Kate and Ashley movies. In this particular movie, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen start out in high school. After witnessing a theft, they become the prey of the thief's uncle. They then become part of the FBI's Witness Protection Program, which means they get a new home and a completely new identity. They move to beautiful Sydney, Australia and struggle to fit in (as if they wouldn't!) at high school. They meet some REALLY HOT guys and, as usual, fall in love with them. This movie would be for girls (ages 6-16), I would say. Boys might stay awake through this movie, but they wouldn't enjoy it. These girls are really growing up right before our very eyes, and I don't think this movie is as dumb as their earlier ones were. The plot is great, they're becoming great actresses, and it's all-around cute, so I really liked this movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gidget For The Year 2000!, November 22, 2000
By
Well, we were not disappointed at our house; the Olsen twins came into their own with Our Lips Are Sealed.

Since they are growing up before our eyes, it should come as no surprise that they are now stylish high school students, but this time, they have both a Mom AND a Dad and are self-proclaimed blabber mouths. Their mouths get them into hot water after testifying against a mobster, and then they can't keep their cover after being sent into the FBI's Witness Re-location Program. Finally we end up Down-Under where there are lots of cute boys, some cute girls, (but never any as cute as them), and lots and lots of beautiful Sydney scenery. One of my favorite gags that might be over the heads of even pre-teens is the coveted "Neil diamond" that the bad guys are hunting for, and as the last laugh, Neil sings over the ending credits.

The script is fun, light, and the big "grand finale" ends with a surf-off. Yes indeed, Gidget for the new generation.

At the end of this movie, I was reminded of two Hollywood legends: Lucille Ball and Ron Howard. Lucille Ball would easily put herself in a hapless situation that endeared her to us again and again. Not that the Olsen twins have quite yet achieved the comic genius of Lucy (I think they have time) but the similarity is that they are classy, funny and can laugh at themselves - look at them constantly blowing their cover, the hairdryer fight, and their signature bloopers at the end of their movies. Also, I am reminded of wholesome Ron Howard in the way that their career (careers?) is progressing so nicely. From child stars - to behind the scenes control; and if, as Howard, what all actors really want to do is direct, then the Olsen twins will indeed be directors.

I am keenly looking forward to the future of these bright girls and hope that they are able to maintain their sense of humor and self and style and whatever else it is that they do that makes them just so darn likeable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Our Lips Are Sealed VHS, November 21, 2001

A great movie with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. It's their first day in high school and they are having a bad day. From ruining the pyramid at cheerleading practice, to an accident with condiments that keeps getting them in trouble, this is a action-packed adventure/romance movie (like most olsen movies) that fans will love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dvd features on olas!, April 5, 2001
This review is from: Our Lips are Sealed (DVD)
I already owned the vhs version but I just had to have the dvd too! It was well worth it. It has tons of extra footage including behind the scenes stuff like the bridge walk. I also really enjoyed the commentary. In that option they talk to you through out the movie and tell you what was happening or why it happened. It's awesome! You should for sure buy it. Especially because it is their first dvd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Their Best One Yet!, March 15, 2002
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Our Lips are Sealed (DVD)
I am a huge Mary-Kate and Ashley fan. After being quite disappointed with their latest flick Holiday in the Sun, I realized i had somehow missed the opening of Our Lips Are Sealed. After immediatley buying the movie, i was pleasantly surprised. The plot not only included cute boys (Pete and Avery), but had a fun storyline that was easy to follow. Unlike their other movie Holiday in the Sun, they didnt switch plots in the middle of the movie, and were consistantly funny and wonderful. This movie not only has the boyfriend components, but great content besides their usual airheadiness. Overall, this is my favorite MK&A movie yet.
(not to mention they luckily left the smoothies out of it!)
