Les Blacklock's early career included producing nature films and lecturing on humans and the environment. The Hidden Forest, co-authored by Sigurd Olson, was his first book. Later books include "The High West," "Meet My Psychiatrist," "Ain't Nature Grand!," and "Minnesota Wild." In 1976 he was presented the Association of Interpretive Naturalists Honoree Award.
Under Les' tutelage, son Craig Blacklock grew up with an appreciation of the wild and its creatures. Since 1976, he has photographed in wilderness areas over much of the United States. His and Nadine's photographs have been published nationally and internationally in books, calendars, posters, and magazines. He is the photographer or co-photographer of numerous books, including "The Lake Superior Images."
Craig's wife Nadine Blacklock worked exclusively in nature photography since 1982. She was co-photographer of several books, including "The Hidden Forest" and "Border Country: The Quetico-Superior Wilderness," and her and Craig's Cibachrome prints are in the Polaroid Corporation's corporation collection. She and Craig also team-taught nature photography workshops.
