Gal Costa is an award winning singer with an extensive career and success around the world.
This new album, "Our Moments" is a 2006 Latin Grammy Nomination.
She has spread the Tropicalia movement throughout the world and is credited for helping define the sound of Brazil.
On "Our Moments" Gal Costa shares with us some of her and her audiences' most nostalgic memories.
Gal Costa and producer Mariozinho Rocha chose songs from the period before bossa nova conquered the world, mostly sambas canções (samba songs).
The songs all come from a very special place in Gal's heart.
With these classics from some of the most important composers and lyricists, the audience is offered a well illustrated document of this fruitful period in Brazilian musical history.
It all comes together beautifully in this masterful piece of work.

Just bought this one. Absolutely beautiful. My favorites on it are Nossos Momentos (the title cut) and Chora Tua Tristeza, followed closely by Pra Machucar Meu Coração, Alguém Como Tu, and Folhas Secas. I'll stop now, before I list the entire songlist. I like them all.

If you're not familiar with Gal, you should check out the sample audio links above. Besides just absolutely nailing the notes on whatever interval she attempts, I also like the way she contrasts ending some with vibrato, and others without, including the short little "breathy" exhale sometimes when ending notes on the "ah" syllable. She really knows how to bend those unique Portuguese vowels. Jobim was right: her voice really is "one hell of an instrument."

excellent selection of classics and newer Brasilian songs. she continues, after decades, to have a very good voice and has moments of vocal thrill in her delivery.
