5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent anthro text book
I purchased this book for a class I will take - the class hasn't started yet, but I'm on chapter 6 of the book - very interesting, well written book. The way the pages are set up makes the reader want to read every word.

2.0 out of 5 stars Our Origins 2e -- Defective Cover?
I received this book today, and the cover is defective! The pages of the book extend past the back cover, which means that they get all folded and ripped up when put into a backpack or carried around. I have owned this book for less than a day and already the pages are getting destroyed. While the content of the book seems to be of great quality, I would not reccomend...

4.0 out of 5 stars Well planned and easy to understand, November 26, 2008
This review is from: Our Origins: Discovering Physical Anthropology (Paperback)
Compared to some anthropology textbooks this one is quite easy to read. It is a first edition so it has a couple minor errors, but nothing too bad. It also doesn't explain some of the contentious points of anthropology, which may confuse some who stumble upon them through research, but I guess that is inevitable for a beginning book.

Not bad overall, and far cheaper on amazon than through the university bookstore :)

I received this book today, and the cover is defective! The pages of the book extend past the back cover, which means that they get all folded and ripped up when put into a backpack or carried around. I have owned this book for less than a day and already the pages are getting destroyed. While the content of the book seems to be of great quality, I would not reccomend a book this flimsy & inadequate to a student who needs to carry it around with them. Even if you're planning on keeping it on your shelf, understand that it will become worn very quickly due to the cover.

I would try to buy something other than the paperback edition if at all possible.

1.0 out of 5 stars READ THIS!!!, January 20, 2012

Let's start out by saying this is NOT a review of the book. I NEVER received my book in the mail. BEWARE of who you are buying from!!!! The user I bought from was called CAMPUS BOOKSTORE. I am a college student and I needed my book for class and it never came. It is very upsetting that people are out there trying to cheat students. I am a premed student trying to better our society. It is ridiculous that a "campus bookstore" would do this. I am extremely disgusted.

If you need this for school, don't worry - it's actually a good book. Lots of great information, followed up by relevant and worthwhile photos. I really benefited from the vocabulary words and the chapter reviews. If you're into anthropology at all, buy this new because you may decide to keep it on your bookshelf even after your course is over.

I had a bit of a Problem actually acquiring the book. My address had changed and the 1-click thing just assumed the address and sent it there. I spent a lot of time trying to change it before it was sent out without any luck. Then I found out it was delivered to the guy that now lives at my old apartment luckily he didn't open it and I personally went to retrieve the book. It was in great condition.

Well... the book was listed as the 2nd edition; it's not. Its a bit marked up and worn but is still a great book and proves to be a solid resorce at half price. If one has the patience to read and search for what your looking for its all still there--Printing new books is big-biz and text books don't really change much from one edition to the very next.

The product I purchased is a text book. It is a previously owned copy of the main text. The price was less than half that of a new one; which I consider to be an excellent buy as well as there were only minor markings .
